  1. Lloyd does have a stricker policy as far as eligibility, one F and you can not play but please be careful in saying that kids at Lloyd dont play because of drug tests. I happen to like their policies when it comes to these two matters! Kids are not leaving or not playing because of drug tests.

that is probably one of the stricter policies. One F and you can't play?

Go Ahead and jump, does the khsaa specify 4 of 6? some schools have 7 classes so how is that interpreted?

  2. Agreed (that's twice during the month of September we've agreed. :thumb:). It is very difficult for people to remember that the rules are different for the different levels. They listen to the TV commentators for college and Pro games discuss penalties and then think that what they heard explained is applicable to high school sports, which it sometimes is but not always. The one that gets me the most is when someone yells after a defensive interference call: that was an uncatchable ball! :D

there were several no calls with regards to pass interference in this game (both ways) so one must assume the refs are choosing not to call it unless they feel it matters.

  3. I know that they started a middle school program this year, not sure what that has done to the Lions, but technically it should get more kids playing football and hopefully improving their numbers.

There is a NKYFL Lions team that had around 15 kids on it. Do they have a Middle School team as well? If so, things could be brighter.

  4. Another huge play was the punt of Mitch McDowell and the downing of the ball at around the 1 yard line.

That punt was sky high, deep and after the ball hit the ground went straight back up in the air allowing a CovCath defender to keep it in play.

The kickers McDowell and Talkers, remind me of Popham and Bleser from the 2006 squad, not as good yet, but as both young men are Juniors they have time to get to that level!

some thought one of the players who downed the ball was in the endzone. has anyone seen pictures or film of this play?

  5. According to Superintendent Glenn Miller, Beechwood has more parkings spaces now than they did prior to the construction of the new elementary. That does include the 20 or so spots on the gym side of the school.

The game has always been at 730pm on my schedule. Then enquirer has it at 730 and I'd be willing to bet they would not have updated their site if it was a change.

  6. I guess I mean blow the Tigers out!

Conditioning seemed to play a big role. The Boone boys who went both ways were sucking wind while the tigers seemed to be okay. Why do so many Boone players go both ways when there are nearly 40 freshman on the team? I'd have to think that a slightly less talented player is better than a talented player who is exhausted.

  7. The Spartans are one of the biggest jokes around at the junior youth level, no championship to play for and they still will not play some of the kids. I hope the coach has a winning season, they are a class act.

not sure I understand this post!

Why is there no championship to play for?

    is the last sentence sarcasm?

    Just wondering

  8. Unbelievable back and forth game. There were back to back kickoff returns for TD during the 3rd quarter. 4 TDs in the first 4 minutes of the 3rd quarter.

With the game tied at 30 and just over 3 minutes left in the game the tigers went for it on 4th down own their own 35 and failed to convert. Boone took the ball and scored in just a few plays, got the 2 point conversion to go up 38-30. After a penalty and muffed catch the tigers started their drive on their own 10 yard line. Mitch Thomas brook off a long TD run but the tigers failed to convert the 2pt try so the tigers still trailed 38-36. The tigers got the onside kick and Mitch Thomas got another long gain down the the Boone 35. Drive was stalling but on 4th and 5 the tigers completed a long pass from 7th grader Brayden Combs to Carter Burns taking the tigers to the Boone 5 yard line. Tigers pushed the ball across the goal line 2 plays later to take the lead. 2 point conversion failed so the tigers led 42-38 with 1:24 remaining. Boone was extremely unorganized and ran the ball eating up huge amounts of time. Game ended with a tackle out of bounds around the Beechwood 40 yard line.

I just don't see how Boone can't run all over the much smaller/younger tigers. Their backs are big and fast and their line was huge. Tigers played with a ton of heart. Coach Chev did a great job as usual.

  9. The new lot will be closed. The older lot will likely be "available" for parking. I don't know that they were really thrilled to have any parking there for Dixie, but as far as I know, they weren't towing anyone. I'm personally going to be parking in the Blessed Sacrament school lot up Dixie Highway a little ways. The weather's great right now, folks. Go for a walk...enjoy the great outdoors.

    Beechwood swim club is closer

  10. Beechwood actually scored 10 points against Highlands' first teamers in the 1 1/2 quarters they played. Plus Highlands did keep a couple of their #1's in on defense the whole game. The offense has looked pretty good all season. In addition to the Highlands game, they have moved the ball and scored against Boone and Conner in scrimmages and against Dixie and Holy Cross . There is definitely room for improvement but they have some weapons offensively and some big play potential. Defense is where Beechwood needs to get better to beat CCH. Hopefully the three goal line stand against Holy Cross are something to build on. But it would be nice to get more three and outs before you have to make a goal line stand.

I wouldn't say that Beechwood stopped Holy Cross. It was more like Holy Cross stopped themselves with dropped passes and penalties. That Walker kids dropped 2 passes in the endzone with the nearest Beechwood player 3 yards away.

  11. ...it will tell Beechwood where they need to improve to win a state championship. And that is all. If you want to discuss the Beechwood/CCH game, start a thread on it.

We already know the problem, Beechwood needs to improve their defense! They have already given up 106 points. There were many seasons in the past where they didn't give up 100 points all season. The D ends just aren't as strong as the past. There is absolutely no pressure on the quarterback. The defensive backs and linebackers seem to be 2 steps away from any receiver.
