  1. No ... postseason matchups in all of the other classes (A-5A) are strictly based on geography. In 6A, the westernmost district was matched up with District 5 (the Louisville district that includes Trinity) two years ago, then District 2 last year and District 4 this year.

This means that, in some years, Trinity and St. Xavier can meet in the state championship, and in some years they meet earlier in the playoffs.

I went and looked at the playoff parings and now see what you mean. But since all 3 districts are in the same general area, that actually makes sense not to send 1 district on the road every year.

  2. Of course people are going to say stuff about the distances and how Trinity and St. X are in the same district. Even if they wernt they should at least be on the same side of the bracket due to the geographic location. It's hard to argue that they should be in the same district geographically though.

but now only one can be district champ!

  3. I'll have to disagree with with the penalities accounting for the first touchdown and the first two touchdowns were against the first team. Walton had a few penalities that were questionable. Yes I agree that Beechwood was on the next level and congrats to them! Walton will be fine and need to focus on next weeks game with Brossart. As to #58 and a punch, I never saw that.

I said it was aided by penalties. Didn't mean to say it wouldn't have happened.

WV second TD came after the BW fumble recovery for TD. There were plenty of reserves on the field after that BW TD.

The comment regarding the punch was directed toward post #7. It happened in the Holy Cross game a few weeks ago not last night.

  4. Too much Cameron Vocke tonight. Walton's offense did move the ball tonight with Bob Baumgartner rushing for 128 yards and a TD. No, it was not all against the second team. Defensively, not a good showing. Bearcats will be all right and need to get prepared for Brossart.

The first score was against the 1's and was aided by a few penalties. The fumble early in the drive was given to Walton when it looked like beechwood clearly recovered the ball. What did the refs call on that? The last 2 TDs and a lot of the yards were against the 2nd team. Walton was a lot worse than Beechwood's 1st team and a little better than 2nd team.

I expected more of game early on which really wasn't there. Yes the score was 14-6 at one point but Beechwood still looked like they had it in control. There are some nice players for Walton. The Walton QB #12 looked good and from talking with him mom he is a junior. What is the age of the starting lineup? If younger they could be good in the future.

Not sure I understand Beechwood's logic in having the big lineman in the second row of kickoff return against a team that squib kicks the ball. Against a better team I could see that costing them.

With regard to #58. Was it really a punch? I don't think so as he would have been ejected from the sideline.

  5. Scott looked very impressive. The guys on the line were big and mobile, #21 is stud running back, #12 a very good quarterback that can run and pass but #3 was my favorite. I think his name was Josh Castleman. Smallest kid on the field but to me he had the biggest impact. Could run the ball but defensively he could hit and make excellent one on one tackles.

    Congrats Eagles

  6. Beechwood does have a few 7/8th graders starting. QB is a 7th and is coming along nicely. There are 8th graders on the line and linebacking core. Most players do come from the spartans but there are a several kids that don't start playing football till 8th/9th grade that actually have turned to be major contributors (Ryan Amelung). Some would say they rely on the Boone County Pee Wee Football league as well. :sssh:
