  1. I think there should be a shot clock for sure. Nobody wants to watch games played in the 30's and 40's. The coaches and players would have to adjust for sure and it would create more exciting basketball IMO. Atleast a 36 sec clock.

Totally agree with this and is one of the main reasons I just don't go to random games even though I live right next door to the school.

  2. Highlands allows everyone on the field after the game. If you really want you get can get close enough to the team to hear the post game speech, however I think most parents/friends stay away until they break it down. I can tell you some of the best family pictures we have was after a Highlands victory on the field with my son and the entire family that was in attendance. Any school not allowing this is missing out IMO.

I know Harrison County blocked all non player access to the field after the game when the Birds played there last year.

  3. Highlands has a problem lately of hearing their own press over the summer. I guess 7 out of 8 doesn't help. Anyways let me say this if Highlands play Cooper, Dixie, SK, etc last year they would have lost and almost/maybe should have been beaten by CC last year. Not sure why they take until week 2 to get things going lately but they do.

    Enough of these 0-6 Threads!

  4. Man that's a darn good Highlands Freshman team I watched last night!!!

I haven't seen too many Freshman games since my son played Freshman ball 5 years ago so I don't have a lot to compare them to but I can tell you they seem like one of the most athletic teams from top to bottom.

RB's where punishing guys, Defense was swarming to the ball like a typical Highlands team would and the Special Teams blew away my expectations.

Good Luck this rest of year, you have me sold on attending some more games this year for sure.

  5. Jack I'm glad your son has done so well' date=' however never heard of him sorry. But then again if he isn't big that would be why with him being on defense you don't hear much about the little guys unless they are something special. But come on man if your son has played varsity all 4 years which is GREAT he and you know we have major problems. And that is all I am saying. Nothing bad about your son or the team as far as that goes. I just see some real talent in the JV team also.[/quote']

Please stop! You're embarrassing the program at this point!

  6. So Highlands D was bad last night? Please explain that one to me please with some examples. Was Cooper really that much of an offensive juggernaut? Outside of the two long touchdowns, what exactly could the D have done better. And you talk about keeping your best players on the field on both sides of the ball, who exactly would that be?

Everyone talks about having Beal on offense, but where does he play? Putting him a wide receiver does what exactly?

Agreed! Was WR an issue last night? How many WR rotate this year for the Bird anyways?

  7. Hahaha that's funny. Not once did I hear anyone say they wanted to see Gosney in there. Now Mitchell Cain on the other hand. Heard lots of that rumbling going on. Just curious' date=' wonder what his Highlands back up plan if injuries become a factor. Also, there were so many issues with this team last night that they need to put them all behind them and focus on how to beat CC. Will be interesting for sure.[/quote']

Did Cain take any snaps in Spring or Summer? Just curious if he is even an option at this point.

  8. How much does the showcasing of Beau Hoge last year in just about every game affect Hergott's Varsity experience?

Thinking back I don't remember too many games where there was a sizable enough lead to throw Hergott in for some snaps and even if there were I believe he was hurt on and off throughout the year. Was there really a need to "showcase" him anyways? He pretty much had BYU wrapped up after his first couple of starts.

The real question is how much does Beau doubling as the offensive coordinator last year hurt this years team?
