  1. I can understand last years disappointment but not last night. A lot of teams have lost to Boyle in the second round and nothing to hold your head down about. They went toe to toe against Boyle last night and should be proud of their effort. Losing to Boyle County does not even come close to their loss last year. JMO

The point I am trying to make is Boyle has had a down year by their standards. This is arguably Russell's best year. If there was ever a time for the Lakers ton get over the second round hump it was this year. Their best was not good enough against Boyles not so best but still very good team.

  2. Please explain how the KHSAA rules in place benefit privates over publics. And be specific. I really would like to understand your argument.
The point I was making is technically most public schools have to play with kids in their geographical boundaries. They cannot attract kids from outside that boundary legally, whereas, private schools are not bound by the same restriction. Their pool to choose from is more expansive making them almost untouchable. The rules are the rules they aren't breaking them but it creates an unfair advantage Imo. It is like Oak Hill Academy the famed High School basketball team who perennially rank in the top 5 nationally. They should be ranked high every year they get the best kids from all over the country. No public school in VA can touch them. They have an unfair but legal advantage.

It impresses me more to see what a public school like Belfry does year and year out and they have to do it with kids from that area. How many impact players on Trinity's roster are from within a 100 mile radius of Trinity?

  3. I believe its unfair that Catholic Schools have access top athletes in public scholl systems, but public schools have no access to athletes in Parishes and Parish middle schools. Do you think the Bishop would welcome a presentation on the benefits of playing football at Male High School? KHSAA says that High School coachs only have access to middle school aged athletes that are in their own feeder system. I don't see this limitation applied in Catholic School Programs.
Good point. One of many reasons privates should have their own playoff or something along those lines.
  4. Funny that you use Scott County when speaking of "rules" being followed.

Nonetheless, it's totally fair what's going on at Trinity. They've EARNED that exposure with the success they had. It took hard work for them to get where they are.

Legit yes. Following the rules and doing it the right way yes. Fair no. Private schools have advantages public schools don't that is just fact.

  5. And the only thing preventing public schools from doing the same thing are restrictions that they placed upon themselves. If a school district so desired they could allow out of district students as well. It isn't the fault of a private school that they don't.

Didn't say it was the private schools fault. They are playing by the established rules. The rules create an advantage public schools do not have, therefore, if they have this advantage why is to so impressive to do what they should be doing? Regradless of who is responsible for the rule Trinity can grab pretty much whomever they want and are not bound by any geographical location. They can offer a premier education and facilities to attract good players. It is a small college set up. Most public schools cant offer this. Trinity is not doing anything wrong they do not make the rules I am just saying a public school like Scott County, Boyle, Central, etc impress much more.

  6. Is this our fault?

I say that it is an earned advantage...people forget we started from nothing!!!!

Settle down I am responding back to a previous reply from you. Coach B is a good man. Trinity is a good program I am just stating the obvious. Trinity has some advantages most public schools don't. If that ruffles some feathers sorry. I personally think private school's should have their own playoff system someway. KHSAA cant stop kids from all over the place go to Trinity if they choose. Private schools can get kids all over the place.

  7. Trenchmaster said it exactly correct.

I wonder how Coach Beatty would do at an average public school where you cant recruit, at least legally, where you have average facilities average educational opporitunities and non supportive administrators and half interested parents. It s tough world in the public school world. Kids pay to go or receive a scholarship to be at Trinity they get the best of the best. Best teachers etc. Trinity in turn get kids who have supportive parents who hold their kids accountable. Trinity should be where they are. They are meeting their expectations.

  8. No offense to the Trinity's players, but it's shame that they are allowed to play normal public schools. I know I'm going to hear it from the Trinity fans, but it just isn't right. Keep your heads high Indians !
I agree. When you can recruit the country and offer things public schools cant it is not all that impressive. Trinity winning state titles is nothing special in my opinion, they should be.
