Did Highlands see this coming or were they "Pearl Harbored" on December 7, 2013? What adjustments were made in the second half that obviously proved ineffective?
-
Yea that taunting penalty really hurt Highlands. Not saying Collons wouldn't have scored without that penalty because they already showed in that drive they can get that homerun ball at anytime. But it sure didn't hurt Collins any.
I also found it interesting that the last play of the game that Dale was whining to the refs wanting a penalty for too many men on he field for Collins when in reality Collins had 11 and the 11th man was the one trying to get off the field.
I think what hurt was the missed opportunities in the red zone particularly the end of the half where Drew gets sacked. That was my game changer.

You have to get the feeling that many of today's headlines will read "Highlands Lost" as opposed to "Collins Wins". So far, it's been 14 or so pages of "Highlands Lost".
-
Looked at some other sites and it seems the joy of Highlands losing and the hatred appears to be throughout the Commonwealth. I think it's more of a headline that Highlands lost rather than the fact that Collins won.
-
What players should have been used on both sides of the ball for the Birds and where specifically? The Birds have been suspect all year to the pass but Collins ran on them just as bad today.
-
I still cannot believe Highlands couldn't convert in the red zone. They are usually money once there.
-
I understand that, but their defense has been suspect all year with talented teams. In the end, if you're giving up a lot, you'd better score more. They came up short. If they had to play Collins twice this year, I'm not so sure Collins wouldn't have won both games. They have a really good team.
Let the haters be what they are, but lets give Collins the respect they truly deserve.
To me they made the Bluebird defense look more porous than the Elder game.
-
There were at least a half dozen coaching decisions on both sides that were questionable moves in that second half.
Now we're getting to some meat......and what were they VOR?
-
I love the Birds and will always be a Highlands fan, but today Collins was the better team and deserve the respect they earned. In the end, todays game is all that matters, they made their place in the record books and justifiably so by playing an awesome game. Just my two cents worth.
Yes, today Collins was better. I have watched this Bluebird team all year and have always thought they were the best team in the state and still do. I've never seen a more powerful offense, but today was just hard for me to make sense. The 2013 Bluebird offense was one of the best I've ever seen and I cannot be swayed otherwise by some Highlands Haters on here.

Right now it feels like the night Kentucky played Duke 94' or the Bengals vs. 49'rs in 89'.
-
A lack of a good defense is what cost Highlands. I don't buy the flat excuse. Never have and never will. Don't you think that the RB from Highlands was giving it everything he had during the game? You know he was. IMO they could have used him more on defense.
By defense, what do you mean exactly?
-
I think I've only seen 1 or 2 HHS fans actually humbly congratulate Collins in this thread. That should tell you something. The rest have chosen to ignore Collins for the most part and continue to preach about how great Highlands is.
Just find it interesting.
I congratulated Collins as did many other Highlands fans, but I'll never say that Collins was a better football team than the Bluebirds. Period. Enjoy the gift, IMO.

Were the Birds flat as some say? Was it the defense? What really happened today in Bowling Green? Was the cold weather a factor? Is Collins really a better team than Highlands? Just doesn't make much sense...:idunno:
-
I just realized Collins scored 37 points.
-
This thread should be renamed the I hate Highlands thread.....10 pages of ignorance so far.
-
Birds will be treated like the State Champs when they come home so all you Grinches can come out and watch the Spirit of this community. It will be better than Whoville.
-
Sounds like a a lot of repressed feelings over the years for a lot of folks on here. Must have been from the annual beatdowns for the past, what, seven years is it? Go Birds
-
Sorry Charlie, no way highlands is the best team in the state and Collins proved that tonight.
No team in the Commonwealth could sustain the level the Birds have played over the years and especially this year. They are Champions in my eyes. No matter what the score read tonight. Go Birds! They'll be back for sure.
-
Congratulations to Collins. Collins just beat the best team in the state of Kentucky tonight. The Birds have nothing to hang their heads about.
-
Light em' up, Birds.
-
Sutkamp needs to quit wasting his time and play for Highlands.
-
You might be waiting a while.
lol.....you dirty bird. That's ok, my 4th/5th grade girls basketball game was probably more exciting than the waxing that will take place at 3pm today. Go Birds.

Roads are fine. Come on down!
I'm still waiting for that free bus to come pick me up.

Good, I thought I was the only one that saw this......It won't be close.
Let's see now, how many northern Ky state champs do we have this year?
