  1. Huge Loss for Girls Basketball not only for Gallatin County but for all of us who enjoy 8th Region basketball. Holly has always been able to bring out the the best in her players. I thought this year really showed how talented of a coach she really is. She took a team that was not expected to make much noise to a All A Championship!!! I have always had great respect for Holly as a coach and she will be sorely missed.

Junior Stockwell / Boone County: 18 points against Covington Catholic / 24 Points 10 Rebounds against Ryle

Jacob Barnes / Conner: Jacob scored 24 points in a win over Lloyd / Scored 22 against Scott

  3. Not that simple. It depends on when he stops his dribble vs where his feet were at the time. If he doesn't gather the ball until AFTER he leaps he can then land 1 then the other. The first foot would be his pivot and he can move the other foot. If he gathers it BEFORE he leaves the ground then he has to land on both feet and has NO pivot.

The challenging thing is determining when he gathers. Even watching video later it is sometimes hard to tell so imagine in real-time. If the official isn't sure he's going to let them land 1 then the other. Add in that he may be focusing on the defender to see if he is about to put two hands on the dribbler or moving in for a charge and you can see why the official doesn't always know the the ball was gathered.

I see your point for sure. I don't think your really ever going to see a true pro hop executed gathering the ball after you leap. I"m not even sure that's possible. My point is that if the player is dribbling the ball in his right hand gathers it (much like to shoot a layup) Jumps off his left foot to execute the pro hop (lands 2 feet solid he can still step with either foot to execute the step through to score.
  4. Is it a walk when a player tries to execute a pro hop and their feet do not hit the floor at the same time? This is one I see an awful lot and have always thought it was a travel, but I very rarely have seen it called that way.
That is correct the players feet have to land at the same time
  5. Figures that I disagree with you.

The Euro Step is a walk everytime! The pivot foot has already left the floor. It is a walk.

If that's the case then a layup is a walk. The other big one which most refs miss is the pro hop where a player leaves one lands 2 and leaves one (via a step through) If you ask most refs what a pro hop is they wouldn't be able to tell you.
