One or two winning seasons in their entire existence and people want to put SK in the same category as Trinity or X? Ridiculous. Why would HHS even waste good oxygen talking about playing SK? We don't need to prove anything to you. 19 state championships, baby. Our proof is in the record books. You want to play us, you know where we are; come and get us. Until then, you are a non-factor, IMO. Keep telling yourself that the Birds are ducking you if that's what makes you feel better. Maybe all your talk will finally get your coach to quit backing down from our offers to play.

That a boy Birdbrain. You are coming along much quicker than some of the others, you serving must have come from the bottom of the pitcher (note: we usually throw that last drink out in fear of one wanting to wear the Bird mascot suit) LOL, Keep up the good work and GO Birds 20n10
Yeah, it only took him 40 years of walking endlessly in the desert to become a true believer. Better late than never, I guess! Go Birds!

Any more details on this? I know CovCath and Campbell Co. are playing tonight (MON, 10.25) with the winner playing at HHS in the championship game. Just looking for a date and time for that game.
I believe the game is set for Saturday, 10/30 at DCM. Kickoff is 7pm but someone may want to confirm that as the day gets closer.
Baby Birds and Colonels playing under the lights; should be a great game! Go Birds - Beat CovCath....AGAIN!

SK's freshman QB might get to play in this game I know he will be dressing for the game.
Don't most freshman players have the option of dressing varsity after their season is over? It would seem silly to play your freshman QB when you are approaching the playoffs. Most teams would want their back up getting as many snaps as they can to prepare him. Sometimes the things you say make me laugh uncontrollably.
-
Sorry 14 to 13. PAT no good.
-
And as soon as I type that, CovCath scores to tie it up.
-
14 to 7 Camels at the start of the 2nd half.

As was pointed out to me this weekend: SK won't play Highlands but they sure like the plays we run. Does "Jester" in this article sound familiar to any of the HHS faithful?
-
At most schools this is the norm. But at Highlands with the numbers of athletes when would you like them to play. Heck, there are bigger schools than Highlands that dont even dress Soph on Varisty and very few if any Jrs play Varsity. So, with that said, yes Highlands plays Jrs on JV, have been for as long as I can remember.
BTW, I also heard that it wasnt the dads that got the situation under control it was a Mother of a player that put the final hammer on them after they verbally abused her son. And no Henry doesnt have anymore sons playing at Highlands so it wasnt her. LOL. Go Birds 20n10
We actually had an offensive line mom and a defensive line mom that teamed up down there along with 2 dads. Great job, moms!

This isn't the first time Deters has talked about this on his show.

Your story is pretty much right on. These gentlemen walked our sideline from the very beginning of the game. They didn't plant themselves on Lorenzen the whole game; they walked the sideline and followed the plays as they went up and down the field. I'm not talking about the track behind the field. At times, they were closer to the field than the chain gang. They stood between the line of scrimmage and our boys and they talked loud the entire game. They stood right by the ref and jawed and called this entire game. At one point early on, Lorenzen walked over and stood in front of them and blocked their view. They didn't want any part of that so from that point on, they pretty much stood away from him but still right there by our boys. By the 4th q, after realizing the refs were not going to do anything, some HHS parents went down and put a buffer between these guys and the players. They backed them up and they cheered the boys on as loud as they could and shut these guys down who, up to this point, had been reading our plays and calling them in right there. Talking trash to our boys, calling their names on the field when they heard it. Begging for calls from the refs and then telling them how terrible they were. I've never seen anything like this in my life. It's a shame these guys had to ruin what otherwise was a great football game yesterday. Scott Co. is a good football team. They are big and they are tough and they were fast. They are the type of team we could add to one of those open dates on our calendar next year. Georgetown is a beautiful place to play football. Someone early on should have taken control of what otherwise was a great day for football. Defense played a great game yesterday. We had some guys out today and others stepped up and got the job done. Go Birds!

Have not followed Boyle at any level .I am sure it will be a great game between two of states perennial powers. Go birds !
How about the next level ! Does Highlands have any reserve games left this year or better yet cancellations? Its funny how this frosh game came together so quick with Boyle. How about a reserve game.I bet the Boyle folks would make it happen.Hats off to Boyle for stepping up !
JV plays at Scott County this Saturday and has Ryle at home next Saturday to close out the regular season.

Getting back to the game, I thought HHS offense looked a bit flat except for McCoy. There were more than a few times I thought he was sure to be tackled only to see him elude guys for 5, 10 more yards - so fun to watch the way he can turn on a dime and go left or right to make something out of nothing. Having said that, you cannot base your offense solely on your QB getting all your yards. St. X did a good job of shutting down #84 David Christian who may have had only 1 or 2 catches all day if I remember correctly.
Defense looked outstanding. I thought #66 Sam Chambers had an all-star day for the Bluebirds defense!
If not for our mistakes, St. X would not have scored in this game. Punt team needs some work but they'll get there!
Love the enthusiam shown by St. X fans with their group cheers. We only got a small taste but I can't imagine heading into their home turf and having to endure that nonstop during a varsity game!

Not talking about Ryle.
Since this is a SK vs. Ryle thread, what other team could you possibly be talking about?
-
Why can't you stand SK? This is directed toward the Highlands fan that said he/she was going to dress up in
orange and black Raider gear to support Ryle instead of SK.
It is for personal reasons that have no place on BGP so I won't discuss.
-
I picked Ryle to win for no other reason except I can't stand SK! Since my Bluebirds have a bye, I might have to strap on the orange and black and head over to check this game out.
-
Extremely poor officiating for this game but I still give Bellevue credit for winning a hard fought game. That #22 Slater? - he's a beast! Too many penalties by Brossart at the wrong time was their undoing. I wonder what a difference Jacob Elbert would have made for Brossart yet he sat the whole game. Anyone know why?
-
Does anyone know if the Highlands Athletic Boosters have a website? I know they used to, but I can't seem to find an active site online.
No, they do not have a website currently. Are you volunteering to build us one?
-
I was at the BC/HHS JV game on Saturday. Does Boone County know how to do anything besides run it up the middle EVERY time?! This will be a battle of two not so good teams to say the least. I'll take CCHS.
-
Having a bye week means we get to go see some of our friends' kids that are playing for other schools in the area. Hoping to find a good game that week from either NewCath, Campbell County or Brossart OR we may go see Ryle beat up on Simon Kenton so we can watch my friend's daughter cheer for the Pioneers. Haven't looked at the schedules yet.
-
This team was very impressive last night! Looking forward to seeing this group move up to Varsity!! Grow, boys, grow!!
Campbell County looked like this was their first football game....ever! Without taking anything away from CovCath, I'd say this Camel team could make absolutely anybody out there look impressive! Painful to watch.
-
I hope it is at 7:30. I need my Larosa's fix. Coming from Louisville, it makes a difference.
7:30pm is the official start time. Heard straight out of Coach Mueller's mouth last night.
-
Do u want a cookie? I think SK could beat Trinity and ST X this year. ST X was not that impressive guess u forgot SK scored 34 points on them in just 2 QTRs.
You forgot to add that they scored 48 and beat SK. Not that impressive?!

Update from Caketown:
HHS 3 SK 2
Scott/Simon Kenton Predictions
in KY Football (High School)

All it takes is one player to go down for SK and Scott has a chance. That's why you go ahead and play the game. Personally, I'd rather vote for Scott than give SK any credit.
