  1. There was one last year.

Mrs. Stegner's son was on the team last year. I know her husband from high school and he is very anti-Pike. I couldn't tell you the reasons why they don't like him but having a son on the team last year, I'm sure they have their reasons. Whether those reasons are valid, I do not know.

  2. Agree with everything you said, especially the bolded. There are 9 teachers at NewCath that are teaching my daugther that taught me, and I"ve been gone since 1984. It says alot about a school and it's supporters that you can retain the same folks for such a long time when they could easily go to the public schools for more money and better benefits. We have so many parents and alum that give back and do things at the school you would think they actually worked there. Heck we even converted a couple of CovCath grads to join our ranks (principal and AD)lol.

You will impress me when you get a Brossart guy there...

  3. I know exactly what you are talking about and I know of schools that do that. I am cool with that. (Cyde's phrase ) I was just wondering if there are any actual rulings or issues where you cannot have a middle schooler playing against a junior. We were told that was the case in girls soccer...so juniors were not allowed on JV.

We actually did have that issue come up this year in a JV girls soccer game. NCC juniors could not play because Holy Cross had 8th graders on their team.

  4. Do not know anything as yet. Tryouts are Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday if needed because of the 8th grade recognition game in football. They will play in the HMS tipoff tourney on Monday and Tuesday for sure, with hopes of advancing to Thursday's semis and Saturday's championship game. May take some time for this team to round into form because of the late start and having so many footballers. Teams have been selected for 6th and 7th grade, each with new coaches this year in Mike Herald and Kevin Nieporte respectively.

What happened to Chris Scott at Highlands? Didn't he coach 7th grade boys last year?

  5. For some smaller schools, having 8th graders play up on the freshman team becomes a necessity in order to have a team. NCC girls did not have a freshman soccer team this year because there weren't enough 8th graders from feeder schools to help field a team. Same goes for Brossart girls basketball this year. There are at least 5 8th graders from St. Mary who are playing up on the freshman team because of a need for players.

  6. All you NKY people sound like Ohioians to me. That bridge is just a dividing line. They don't call it Greater Cincinnati for nothing.

The only thing "greater" about Cincinnati is the fact that it's connected to Northern Kentucky. When someone asks me where I'm from, I say NKY. I would never, ever claim to be from Cincinnati or Ohio for that matter.

  7. The 1st thing I noticed when I sat down on Friday night was that Ryle did not have a huge amount of kids on the sidelines. Even with the kids dressed in street clothes, I would have expected a lot more kids on the sidelines for a 6A school.

On the subject of David Cecil Memorial, DON'T CHANGE A THING! My advice to any policeman, cheerleader, spectator, etc. who wants to stand on the sideline, you had better pay attention to the game at all times because you never know what's going to come at you.

  8. When I was in the high school, I thought Victor Brown was the sexiest math teacher in the world and if I had run into him after I graduated...

Yeah, there's a double standard but I'm ok with that. Girls think with their hearts and can be easily led astray. We all know what boys think with.

I don't for one minute think those boys were deflowered of their innocence though so I was actually rooting for her. Smoking pot and staying out all night. Where were their parents. If the situations were reversed, can you imagine what people would be calling those girls. But boys are treated like heroes..except the one who told, of course. Now that is one double standard, I am not ok with.
