  1. Congrat's to Ryle on the win, great team chemistry and let's not forget Coach Haitz and her staff come from GREAT pedigree. The Highlands seniors have had a great ride and have been blessed with great coaching and family support. I wish all the seniors the best of luck in the future and I am sure all their parents are proud as they should be.

Best of luck to Ryle/Holmes and may the best team win!

  2. Which thing? And I have not made a prediction in any of the last 4 years in the playoffs. I usually just say once you are in, then anything can happen.

However this time I am predicting a Bengals win.

    Bengals 27

    Steelers 24

    Who Dey!

I will take your 3 and will put up a $25 donation to the charity of your choice or mine if the Bengals do not cover the spread. Best of luck and may the best team win.

    Go Steelers!

  3. To the first part, I agree. Just like if the Bengals got the 2 seed I'd say they got helped.

The point of my post was that he is calling out Bengals fans for wanting help to improve their seed when his team needed help just to make the show.

Fair observation but I believe he said they were only going to focus on what they could control which they did. The rest he put to faith and got lucky. The difference being they will prepare for whoever the next opponent will be and not hope to avoid one team over another. Obviously they did not have much of a choice.

  4. Hold the phone. You crack on Bengals fans for rooting for the Chargers but you spent all week praying for help from Buffalo... So is the Steelers 6 seed undeserved then since you needed help?

Glad you support your team but how about knocking it back a notch?

Steelers are fortunate to be in this game and have a lot to improve on. Sometimes we all need a little help and Christmas came early or ran late today. Now onto next week and the next opponent. That is how the Steeler organization works and why the franchise has been so successful. By the way to the comment about Tomlin being on the block the Rooneys do not work like that. I have questioned coach Tomlin and his clock

Management and game management but at the end of the day he gives me a reason to want to cheer on my team.

  5. I'm thinking if you bet the Steelers you will be GIVING points. Not sure if a host 3 seed has ever been a dog against a visiting 6 seed, but I would think the Steelers will open up as the favorite...since Dalton is down.

I was assuming as you say a 3 seed at home would be a favorite. Truly I do not to make any bet's being I normally lose. Should be a good game I hope and again think Cincinnati will be tough to beat at home. Those who discredit Marvin he may not have been successful in the playoffs and I agree that is part of coaching success but I remember when Bengal fans use to wear bags on their heads. He has put a competitive product on the field and has been consistent. Appreciate what your team has done over the length of a long season. And I know he has consistently lost in the playoffs. Support your team many cities would love to have them.

  6. For a Steelers fan, you sure are full of doom and gloom even after big win. Hate to see what you are like after a loss.

For me as Steeler fan last week was a bad loss and just football. Live by the Steelers but after the last whistle it is just football. I wish the best of luck to both teams next week, here is to all players staying heathy and may the best team win. Good luck to the Bengles and their fans.

  7. I agree. I really would like to see Ryle protect the ball in this one. Because if they do, it really makes it a very interesting matchup. We'd get to see what you and I have hoped they have worked on. What happens when a team with size can protect the ball?? How does Holmes score? That's not a knock on them by any means...I am really curious. This will be a great test for both teams because both teams weaknesses are the other teams strengths.

Sorry to bring up weaknesses, but I'm just trying to have a darn conversation here!

Great observation, very sorry for my recent post but I just want all these young people to have positive experiences they can take and utilize when real life begins. I very much respect your opinions and feel you have a great knowledge for sports.

  8. If you are talking about my posts, I apologize for offending you. However, I pointed out positives and opportunities for both teams. Do you really feel anything I said is damaging to any of them? I know a lot of the players on both teams. I would say the say thing with them present. In fact, I've coached some of them and I coach at the high school level myself. Are we supposed to suger coat everything for high school kids that are about to jump into the real world...some within the next 6 months? I am talking about the game and strategy and keeping everything at the team level. I don't name any names. I only talk about the team. Are we really in a place where a high school kid can't be told about team weaknesses and strengths? Should we hand them all trophies and tell them they are the best at everything, when we all know (including them) that it's not true. How do people get better if no one tells them their shortcomings. Feedback is a gift!!!

Here's a quote from Doc Rivers "Average players want to be left alone. Good players want to be coached. Great players want to be told the truth!"

You keep repeating that coaches don't let their kids read this stuff...that's fine. Not sure why that comment is relevant to discussing this game. But I bet those same coaches are the ones game planning and explaining to each and every kid on their team what every weakness is of the opposing team. And how they are going to attack and expose that weakness with everything they have...all in the spirit of winning.

If my comments on this thread bother you then you may want to think about not reading too many more posts by ANYBODY!.

Good point, I like this site and getting notified of games and what the results are, maybe someday BGP will create a way to block those you do not want read. To your point I have made my comments and will be certain not to read what you or others like you who find comfort in making yourself feel good because you or someone like you may acknowledge what you say. Good Day!

  9. Agree one hundred percent within the confines of the team and those who are responsible for their team playing to the advantages they may have against an opponent. If any coach takes what is said by those who post on this web site shame on them. In additional that is why the coaches are the coaches and we as spectators should understand what we say here or anywhere could potentially impact a young adult in a negative manner maybe for the upcoming game or further. Once again the coaches I know use scouts and keep their findings within the confines of the team, a forum like this could be used to encourage young athletes as well as point out what they may be lacking. Again personally I would want to be known for focusing on positive impact on young people not negative. Just my opinion.

  10. My point being that we as responsible adults should focus on positives as oppose to the weakness a HS team may or may not have. Just my opinion like yours. I will take the positive route and try to encourage young men and women not point out what I think may be their weakness. I can't speak for all HS coaches but the coaches I know personally do not let their players read this stuff.

  11. I wish both teams the best of luck and hope these young women try their hardest and remeber in the big picture that this is just a game that they should enjoy and live in the moment but realize after the last whistle blows real life starts the next day in the classroom. Not sure why anyone would want to point out the PERCIEVED weakness for any HS team. These are HS young women and I am gratefull that coaches tell their players to ignore the opinions of people on this web site.

    Kind Reagrds,

  12. Okay, since this isn't about the tournament and I have a honest question. So then you're saying that a public school district can decide to say, take next Wednesday off "just because". And that's okay as long as they make it up?

So if Highlands were public and an all "A" school and your beloved team were in that situation what recommendation would you have for the school and students? Academics or support your team? Willing bet $20 on the answer!!! Do not mean to question you and respect your very enjoyable post but just curious in this situation if the scenarios were different

  13. Looks like the Lady Saints will be loaded again this year with from what I hear a top recruiting class. With Mosss returning healthy (I hope) and some of the older players playing with the young talent should make for an exciting year. I did notice Jenny Bourgouyne (spelling sorry) is not listed on their active roster, I thought she was a junior last year so either I was wrong and she graduated or was she just not listed for some reason? With her I think they once again compete long into the post season and who knows maybe this could be the break through year. If she is not on the roster that is a blow IMO. Best of luck to Coach Hans, his staff and all the young women on a great season.

    Go Lady Saints!
