^^ I am SO HAPPY for the Cougars who have now defeated NKAC Div III contenders Bellevue and Ludlow, and will have showdown contests with Villa Madonna later on down the road.
Two things that LB states are really encouraging - "The team is playing with discipline and don't force things." WOW!!! What a change of styles and culture.
It is unbelievable that Coach Brown has been able to install discipline in this group after having played so wide-open and self-destructive in the past. Old habits die hard, but it sounds like Coach Brown has earned this team's trust and have kicked the old tendencies out of the gym. Good for him, and Good for them!
My second comment to LB is that Mason Rusch in NOT a senior - only a sophomore, and one that would be welcome on any roster in the 9th Region or at a mission school in Alexandria.
I am happy for him that he has been introduced to the right way to play the game, and this will only help him down the road when the college coaches come calling.
Keep up the good work!!!
Eyesight is going bad.....even with glasses on. :lol2: You are correct he would be welcome at any school in NKY. Coach Brown has some nice players to work with for the next year or two with only one senior on the roster.....wouldn't surprise me if they contend for NKAC D-III title.
BTW, I'll see you tomorrow night in the Fort.

It’s not a Prayer Group. Sorry I couldn’t resist.

What will a group conversation do?
See the Dan Wagner thread.

Oldham scores the final 9 points of the game to win 53-51
Travis Henderson 20 points 10 rebounds for Oldham; Jackson Gibson with 17 points (14 in the second half)
Brennan Stanley with 20 for WV
20 turnovers really hurt Walton
OUCH!!! That will always kill you in a close game, especially one decided by a bucket.

That list is so Ludicrous, I'm surprised Ludacris isn't on it. :lol2:

Just because it's not a game between a couple of the "heavy hitters" in NKY it doesn't mean it can't be a good game, well Bellevue and Calvary Christian proved that tonight in an overtime DANDY.
Bellevue races out to a 35-24 halftime lead, only to see Dale Brown's bunch outscore the Tigers 22-8 in the 3rd quarter, as Calvary takes a 46-43 advantage heading to the 4th.
Calvary has a 60-57 lead with :44.8 to go when Bellevue's Eric Atkins takes (what anyone in the gym would label an ill-advised) 25 foot plus shot that banks homes to tie the score. Bellevue is up 64-60 with :18.7, Calvary's Mason Rusch drives and scores to make it 64-62 with :10.9 remaining. The Tigers Daniel Hill is fouled with :09.0, he makes the first FT, but misses the 2nd. Bellevue does everything they can to keep the ball out of Rusch's hands, so from about 23 feet Sr. Maks Borden sends up a BIGTIME rain-maker and the splashdown is NBN!!!!:ylsuper: Tie ballgame and it's FREE BASKETBALL for everyone as we head to Overtime.
In the extra period Calvary could have put it away, but missed 5 of 6 freebies with under 1:00 to go, but is able to hang on, as Bellevue's Tommy Ratterman's 22 footer at the horn is no good.
A few things........
1. Calvary DOES NOT pass the "eye-test", maybe one player over 6 foot, but my lord they were SO, SO disciplined. They ran their plays as instructed and didn't try to force a thing. Great job passing the ball for buckets and I loved how they ran the floor for transition baskets.
2. Calvary's Sr. point guard Mason Rusch impressed the hell out of me with his overall game, great hustle and excellent floor general....without him, Bellevue wins in a blow-out.
3. Calvary's So. Josh Moran silently dropped 26, in the right place at the right time.
4. Tigers got a little careless with the ball during the 3rd, but credit the Cougars press.
5. Still a big fan of Bellevue's Maehren and Ratterman, both hard working kids.
6. Bellevue's Eric Adkins with a nice game offensively and some big rebounds as well, he needs to be a consistent 3rd scoring option for the Tigers.
