  1. Alright listen close I'll explain this so everyone can understand. 1. Coaches poll in No. Ky. has nothing to do with anything state wide. Just coaches in No. Ky. 2. All-State players nominated by coaches voted on by MEMBERS of all 3 classes so Bart Rison at Montgomery could vote for Walton players etc. 3. When NKAC All Stars come out only the Coaches in their division can vote like Division 3 picks Division 3 etc. Everyone got it? I am sure that people vote for all-state that have never seen players play so its scary what some may do.

Big Green you nailed it, but all these polls are not a true picture. All the coaches e-mail their buddies an say "if you vote for my players I'll vote for yours", without even seeing some of the folks thier voting for. While their numbers might look good we all know the "fraudulant" stat keeping that some teams have, some of these girls numbers are way out of proportion. I've seen many line drives, fly balls, & hard hit grounders missed played by a fielder and are clearly errors that are counted as hits when you read the paper the next day.

  2. Have heard about the infated stats before, but can't speak on issue. When Brossart and NewCath played everything was on the "up n up". However Bellevue, on the other hand, has some scoring issues. When they played NewCath the first time this season Hausfeld was sick so JV pitcher started and rightfield was played by a girl who was playing the field for the first time all season, she dropped two routine fly balls in the first inning (promptly replaced) and another error committed later in the game. The next day paper stated Bellevue with 3 extra hits and NewCath with 0 errors. This is totally inflating stats. From what I hear if a Bellevue girl hits the ball hard and there is a forceout the batters still gets credit for a hit. Never seen it, only been told this and by more than one person.

  3. Was at the game and was not impressed with Ryle's play tonight, but like all good teams they dig down deep and find a way to win. They needed 4 runs in the 5th with 2 outs to lock up this one. Until the 5th inning 2 out rally they had only 2 hits. Congrats to Highlands they played hard, take away miss played fly ball and bad throw by the catcher and this could have been interesting.

Also nice to see former Ryle standout pitcher and current Oklahoma Sooner Kirsten Allen at the game.

  4. Thanks to Dan Hausfeld for getting me these numbers. Danielle Hausfeld's 2010 innings pitched & strikeout totals.

  5. RiverDog and History I concur, but.....

RiverDog, You could be correct, but I don't think NewCath as that many "cupcakes" on it's schedule. History, I've seen all four of the girls you mentioned pitch and I'd be happy to have any one of them on my team anyday of the week. However, when it comes to the rankings, those teams should be at the top. The girls on Conner and Ryle have known nothing but fastpitch (and a majority of them play on travel teams in the summer) and the same can probably be said about Brossart. I can't speak with any degree of certainty about St. Henry. But I do know that the northern Campbell county schools, Bellevue, Dayton, Highlands, NewCath, & Newport have only been playing fastpitch for less than 5 years and most of the girls on these teams have played less than that. While all these teams have one or two quality players, until that area or the schools establish leagues or start feeder programs these teams will be, and for sometime to come, continue to be on the outsite looking in. My hats off to the coaches of all these teams for the hard work and dedication they put into developing these young ladies.

  6. Congrats to NewCath junior pitcher Danielle Hausfeld for reaching the 300 strikeout plateau. 45 K's in 3 district tourney games 15, 17 (1st 9 in a row), & 13). This young lady IMO is by far the best pitcher in NKY, on a young (only 1 senior) & inexperienced NewCath team. Inexperienced in the fact that all but Hausfeld have only been playing fastpitch for 3 or 4 years. Hausfeld is 22-9, 322 K's in 207 innings, & a 1.01 era so far this season. Good luck in the regional.

  7. Behind the pitching of Soph. Cassie King and the 4 for 5, 5 RBI hitting of 8th grader Taylor Burkart the Newcath JV team scores a victory in their opening game of the season. All the NewCath girls played great and showed that their hard work during practice is showing early signs of paying off. Also, hats off to the Dayton staff, their team consisting of mostly 8th graders, played very hard and did not give up the entire game.
