  1. I got to attend this game due to my sons practice going on during the varsity game in the batting cage up at the field. The Colonels looked very good. The old saying Hitting Is Contagious holds true in this game. The Colonels went silent in the first inning. Then in the bottom of the 2nd Sexton lead things off with a solo homerun(#3 of the season) then the bats came alive from there as they scored 5 runs that inning including another homerun from Stansberry, who also hit another homerun later on in the day(#2 and #3 of the year). Smallwood looked as dominant as ever striking out 11, walking 1 and giving up 1 hit. Aaron Warren and Brady Asher pitched for the Juggs. Plagemen got the lone hit in the game for Lloyd Memorial. Great game for the Colonels in a district game. Next up is the Boone County Rebels tomorrow at 5at Dixie Heights! Colonels record is now 18-4.

  2. Sexton: 2-1, 26.1 IP, 0.80 ERA, 35 K, 25-59, 0.424 AVG, 8 2Bs

According to Mrs. Wolfe for Dixie. She said that Sexton is 4-1. With wins over Louisville Seneca, Campbell County, Mercer County and Beechwood. All the rest of his stats look about right though. Also he went 2-4 tonight with a homerun and a double tonight and 2 RBI's.

  3. Harrison and Boyd Co are in 1 pool, suppose to be with Boone but they dropped out. Greenup, Lawrence and can't recall the 3rd team in that pool. No game on thursday with Boone dropping out, 3 friday night and start back at noon on sat with 1 pool game then the consolation and finals.

Harrison and Boyd County are in one pool. Boone County was in that pool but dropped out of the tourney so I dont know who fills there spot. Dixie Heights, Greenup County and Lawrence County are in the other pool.

  4. Good hitting display put on by the Colonels in this one. Also a great game pitching by Luis Prado. Everyone hit the ball well tonight for the Colonels. Prado only managed to give up 2 hits and walk 1. Several homeruns in this one also.

    Dixie Heights- Prado 1-3 HR(#1) 2 RBI's, Sexton 3-3 HR (#2), Double, Single, 3 RBI's, Stansberry 1-3 HR(#1) 2 RBI's

  5. Pee Wee's Place Offensive play of the game: CovCath bottom of the 12th! First batter Stein lays down a bunt towards the Dixie 3rd baseman but as he is about to pick up the ball, it bounces to his right and he can't play it cleanly. Man on first, no outs. Siemer hits a single. Men on first and second no outs. Warning lays down a 1-3 sac bunt, moves Stein and Siemer to second and third, one out. Coach Maxwell calls for a IW of Klein, to load the bases, one out. Gerwe with a 2-2 count smacks a single up the middle to score Siemer to win the game.

BAWAC Inc. Defensive play of the game: Far, far too many outstanding defensive plays by both teams to pick one over another. Both teams seemed to make play after play, that had both the Dixie and CovCath fans cheering.

Grubers Grill star of the game: This one might stun some, but my vote goes to CovCath short stop sophomore Seattle Stein. What a game this young man had! Time after time when you just knew it was a hit, Stein made the stop and throw to record an out. Yes you might disagree with me on this one, but man oh man I haven't seen a HS SS play this well in a long, long time!

Totally agree. Without him there Dixie Heights wins the game in the 8th. and 10th. and 11th.

  6. No one for CCH was close to the mid-80s like Smallwood. Warning's best pitch was the hook. Schlag throws with decent velocity and seemed to throw a lot of strikes. Sexton brings it well.

I thought Schlag was throwing pretty close to 80 at some point. And I think Warnings best fastball looked almost 80. Smallwood was humming at the beginning of the game. I couldnt tell with Sexton though sometimes. It seemed like he was in the 80's.

  7. Great game by both teams with more than stellar pitching. Smallwood started for the Colonels and went 6 while Warning started for the other Colonels. He went 7 I believe. Sexton came in the 6th and went the rest of the way. Shlauggbaum (sp??) finished the game for Cov Cath. TOG should have the good, the bad and the ugly for both teams today. A very long and great game of baseball.

  8. Have only got the privelage to talk to Pete once or twice but he was a riot both times. Although I've watched many varsity games in years past. He's one of the funniest people ever to watch at a baseball game and a GREAT mentor to the kids. It seems like he hates the opposition every game but after the last out is recorded he's friends with everyone.
