Thompkins has outstanding natural throwing motion. He has a downward plane to his fastball as well as movement. He is left-handed and about 6’ 1”. He has made substantial progress from last year and I believe will continue to improve more and more. He has had very limited formal pitching instruction. I believe that he will add velocity, skill to his off-speed pitches, and more over-all consistency with time and training. He likes baseball, has a very good attitude, and is willing to work hard. He is a bright young man and does very well in honor classes.
Spalding is a hard-throwing right-hander who has hit 92 mph on the radar gun this spring. The upside about Spalding is that he can contribute in so many different ways. Besides on the mound, he adds at the plate, running bases, and in the field.
I am not for sure why Spalding was not used as a closer in the Lexington Catholic game. (In fact, I think that Spalding’s best role on the mound may be as a closer.) I would like to hear the coaching staff’s reason; but one possible explanation might be that Loehnert was a DH and might be more easily warmed up?
Ive watched this kid play for a long time now. I remember when he played summer baseball for the Louisville Lightning and then moved to play ball for the Houston Angels. He is an AMAZING athlete with an AMAZING future ahead of him. I wish the best of luck to this young man. He has always been funner than anything to watch play the game of baseball.

Beechwood has a lot of work if they are going to make the region. Their hitting has disappeared. One hit tonight. No hit over the weekend. Two runs versus CCH. One run versus Holy Cross. Unless Bertke pitches a shutout, the region is not looking good if the hitting keeps this up.
Very true. But you have to put into consideration that they faced a D1 pitcher Saturday. And a very good young pitcher today. Probably both are in the top 5 pitchers in the region. Luckily neither of them are in the Tigers district. In district play the Tigers will need to step it up a notch but the only pitching that will be even relatively close to what they saw over the weekend and today is if Roenker threw against them and maybe Warning or Gerwe. A big maybe.

Actually im torn between Ronald Cotton and Tyler Sexton. Dont know who I'd vote for.
-
I'm torn between him and Liggett. Dixie's schedule makes me lean towards Liggett.
I still dont know. I mean you still have to hit the ball. Im looking more towards who has been there when there teams needed them the most. Oh and by the way young Mr. Abeling told me about an hour ago that Dixie has picked up a game this Saturday against Louisville Male and a game after that against Highlands. My vote right now I think would go with Sexton as of now. But there is still about 2 weeks left of the regular season so we shall see :thumb:
-
After tonight game against Lloyd, Sexton is batting .451 with 4 HR and 13 doubles. And also has a 1.31 ERA, 55 K's and 11 walks and 7 earned runs. I still dont know who my vote would go for though at this point.

UK had called earlier in the week and told him they wanted to look at him. He said great I pitch on Saturday. They made arrangements to come up and watch. Well Friday night, Brice decided to commit to Morehead so he called UK up and told them not to come.
Thanks for clearing that up Club.

Is he drew's brother?
Yes. He is. Blake has dropped alot of weight and now is looking great. He's a very fine young ball player.

Lets back up for a second. What do you mean he "turned them away?"
My guess is he didnt them there. Because he already commited to Morehead State. Im not sure though. Good question.
-
I dont understand how Dixie can go from Friday night hitting Roenker and Fuller very hard and then coming back Saturday and barely muster up any hits against Johnson.
-
I don't know if anyone was at the game with a gun to clock him. UK was supposed to be there but Smallwood turned them away.
If I had to guess I would say Sexton was mid 80's maybe a bit more.
Okay thanks NKU. Ive never seen Sexton at his best velocity. Just heard things, ya know? And once you hear things thats when things start to get twisted.
-
Congrats Brice! All around great young man. NKY is happy for you. Good luck!

:thumb: You are right. Thanks for the correction.
Sexton threw very well until he ran into the rough spot in the 7th. He had excellent command and it seemed like his velocity was up.
Ive heard the same thing from multiple people at the game. I personally havent seen him throw all that much this year. How hard was he throwing today? I know Smallwood got clocked at 87 in the Beechwood game. At least thats what somebody told me.

Wow...Who pitched for Lloyd?
-
Great game and it was #19, Tyler Johnson. He threw a heck of a game.
I heard he did. I didnt get to attend this game. How did Sexton throw?

Asher and Plageman from Lloyd and Brilz from Beechwood are also on the Bluegrass Lions 16U. Does anyone have their complete roster?

The website for KBC is kentuckybaseballclub.com. The Louisville Baseball Club also has a website: louisvillebaseballclub.com. I'm pretty sure that the Morse Mustangs have a website but not sure what it is. Heard there was a Northern Kentucky kid playing for them. Do the Louisville Hitmen or the Western Ky Dirtbags have a website?
Tim Barnhorst from Dixie Heights is playing for the Morse Mustangs this summer I believe.

Did I read in another thread that Pugh now has 10 HRs?
He has 8 homeruns.

who pitched for Ludlow in this game? I couldn't find any box score on this one...

Actually Dixie Heights is 20-5. According to maxpreps.com Dixie was 19-5 before yesterdays win against Ludlow.
-
So does this put Dixie at the 20 game win mark? I didn't see a boxscore today.
They are 19-5 as of right now.

Bats were on fire tonight for the Colonels early and often tonight in this district seeding game. Im not sure 1-7 made an out in their first at bat tonight. Anyways the Colonels score 7 in the first inning and 5 in the 2nd inning and from then on the bats kind of died down. Also Brett Stansberry threw an amazing game tonight. Even if it was against a sub par Ludlow team im not sure anybody in NKY would have beat the Colonels tonight with him on the mound. All of his stuff was working. He threw a I believe 1 hit complete game shut out. Next up for the Colonels is Holy Cross @ Meinken Field tomorrow under the lights at 7:30pm. Good luck Colonels.

The Kentucky Baseball Club 16U team is top ten national ranked and #1 Perfectgame ranking. The team is made up of kids from central Ky, with a NKY kid and a kid from Apollo.
Who is the kid from NKY? And does anybody have a roster of this team? I saw the roster for the 18u KBC and its loaded.
