  1. Nobody is talking about Dixie and I think they like it that way. Last year all the talk was about Dixie and look what ended up happening. Well since everybody on here isnt talking about them I'll say something about them. Believe it or not they will be very good still. They have senior leadership out of Popham, Sexton, Dematteo, Abeling and Barnhorst. They have a very, very good group of juniors coming up who finished the JV season last year with an impressive 20-5 record. Sexton will lead the hitting and be at the top of the pitching staff while Dematteo and Abeling are locking up the middle. And Popham like always will be securing the leadoff spot and be solid behind the plate. The Juniors that I think will have a huge impact on Dixies season are Corey Garrett and Clayton McKinney. They are both outfielders who can hit with anyone at the varsity level. They are both also very sound pitchers. Dixie will surprise alot of people this season and will have just as good as a chance to win the region as anyone this season.

  2. The 35th is going to be a bigger battle this year than last. HC returns almost everyone. CCH returns good talent. BW returns a lot plus a really good player that didn't play last year.

A strong team is not going to make the 9th region tourney.

Lets just hope they dont play Holy Cross in the first round of districts again.

  3. Six Rooster players coached by Bobby Mullins recieved offers this weekend.

From what I have heard the players are:

    Dylan Cottingham

    Zach Larimore

    Tyler Sexton

    Brent Truitt

    Dylan Embs

    Ian Hehman

They all went on a road trip basically through Tennessee and Kentucky hitting colleges such as Columbia State, Martin Methodist, Lambuth University and Mid Continent University.

Mid Continent University offered all these players scholarships including 3 of the 6 getting basically full rides. Im sure a few more will recieve offers from the other colleges but from what I am told MCU was the only one to offer as of yet.

  4. 1st game Kellen had 32. Hatton had 19 with 9 points coming from the ft line. Kellen had the better game! 2nd game Hatton had 11pts with his first basket coming with 2 minutes left in the 3rd qtr. Kellen shut him down plain and simple. Hatton's a very good player, Kellen Smith is better.

Get out of here. Your user name proves why you are homering Hatton and why your so much set on Smith winning the POY. If you honestly think that then you might be the only one of BP that really believes it. Smith is a very good player but Hatton is in another category. Hatton has been on almost every game this season. So since Smith in your words "shut down" Hatton, every game someone holds Smith under 20pts we can say he is the best player in NKY and leading candidate for POY? I just dont see how this is an argument. Smith is a good player and the best on Scotts team, but Hatton is a VERY GOOD player and is the best shooting guard and possibly player in NKY.

  5. 1a. Tyler Sexton- Because he and Hempel will be battling out with the bats all year. I picked Sexton first because not only is he a great hitter but quite possibly the best pitcher in the 9th.

1b. Connor Hempel- Because he is an outstanding hitter but his only downfall is he doesnt pitch anymore. But with his bat around .500 it could be enough for him to win POY.

    2. Doug Teegarden- Cant leave out the District MVP and Region MVP.

    3. Leiff Clarkson- Doesnt get much recognition but is by far the best shortstop in NKY. If his bat heats up even a little bit he will be a candidate.

    4. Jackson Laumann- Ton of upside with a ton of pop in his bat. A solid pitcher also.

    5. Dylan Cottingham- I would say the best cather in NKY this year. Also he has worked on his bat this summer and has improved a lot.

  6. That's really hard for Tyler to know as Coach Maxwell doesn't even know who is pitching when.

Correct. I talked to Tyler as he was leaving Champion Windows yesterday and he said he doesnt know who was going to pitch, he said if he had to say then he would say wither Smallwood or Stansberry would throw Friday. He said if anything he will be in relief.

  7. By 9th region standards Isler was a great pitcher IMO. He's a more complete pitcher than any pitcher in NKY this year.

Don't get hung up on stats.

However, let me be clear (and repeat myself): Smallwood is the best pitcher in NKY this year. I don't want you (or him) to think I don't appreciate his talent. Its there. I think he needs to add more to his repertoire.

Like what? What did Ice do last year that was so much better than Smallwood?

  8. Could you please tell me who those 10 Wins were against?

Well it says he has 8 wins for one. Its just not all lined up. And for two, was Zach Isler a "great" pitcher? Because if you look at Smallwoods stats as of right now and Islers stats from last year, Smallwood actually has better numbers. I know its not always about numbers but ill just throw them out there.

    Zach Isler

    App- 11 Games- 11 Wins-11 Losses-0 ER-11 ERA-1.29 Hits-39 BB-8 IP-63.0 Runs-12 K's-70 Saves-0

    Brice Smallwood

    App- 10 Games-10 Wins- 8 Losses- 0 ER- 9 ERA- 1.43 Hits- 13 BB- 22 IP- 44.0 Runs- 11 K's- 88 Saves-0

So now tell me who's stats look better? I know all the Cov Cath fans on here will say its not always about the stats but these particular stats between a "Great" pitcher and a "pretty good" pitcher gives the nod to the "pretty good" pitcher if you ask me.

  9. I agree. However, there are no "great" pitchers in the 9th this year. "Very good" to "pretty good."

The 9th first round is May 31st. Next round isn't until June 4th. Even if the winning pitcher goes 7 on May 31st he can start and pitch again on the 4th.

    Brice Smallwoods Pitching Statistics.

Pitching App Games Wins Losses ER ERA Hits BB IP Runs K Saves

    10 10 8 0 9 1.43 13 22 44.0 11 88 0

Your totally right. There isnt a great pitcher in the 9th.

  10. A real nice win for Dixie as the bats come alive against CovCath after going silent the night before. Smallwood pitched well and Sexton's 3 run shot IMO really got things going.

It seems like after he hit that all the Dixie players and fans really got excited about the game. It was so early in the game that I dont want to call it a momentum shift but it surely does seem as if Cov Cath had the momentum before his homerun.
