  1. It is true you need to score more than 7 points to win most games, but Henry Co did less with much better field position than Hills. Henry Co had 4-5 posessions start inside Western Hills' 30 and only scored 7 points from great field position. Hills had more drives than did Henry Co, but started from deep in their own territory (results of good punts by Henry Co). Only drive of the night by Henry Co was the last drive that did not result in any points. Henry Co won the game, but as ColonelMike stated during the week it was a toss-up. If these two teams play 10 times, probably split even at 5 wins a piece. Curry did have a rough time punting which kept Hills behind on field position. The wind was blowing strong from North to South (I think) and Henry Co's punter also struggled on punts into the wind. Just seemed that when Hills was punting from deep in own territory it was always into the wind, giving Henry Co great field position. Will be interesting to see which North Oldham team shows up. The one that was soundly beaten by Henry Co or the one that thrashed Spencer Co.
  2. This game was very close - neither team able to generate much offense. Henry Co had a big play on a busted defensive assignment by Western Hills early, then struggled to move the ball as well. The difference in the game was field position. Henry Co started 80% of its drives in Hills territory (including drives that started at Hills' 11, 23, 26, and 28), while I think Hills only started 1 drive in Henry Co territory (their TD drive). Those not "impressed" with Curry must have not been at the game. He was under pressure all night (Hills lost Guard Justen Perry in 2nd half that really hurt), but still able to make plays and put his team in position to score. Curry was able to escape often for big runs, while he also had some good throws that would have been long plays (2 probably going for TDs) that were dropped. Henry Co did a good job of bringing pressure and forcing Curry into some poor throws, but Curry did much better job than some seem to indicate.
  3. As usual in most close games, the offensive and defensive lines will dictate who wins. If Henry Co can get penetration on defense and rush Curry or hit Wright in backfield - huge advantage to Henry Co. If Hills can control the line of scrimmage and allow LBs to roam and make plays - huge advantage to Western Hills. If either offensive line can sustain blocks - that offense has the big advantage. With the rain and cold, might come down to who can play power football and not commit turnovers. I think this gives a slight advantage to Hills and their newfound Power I.
