Who wins and why?

Theses two teams mirror each other in a lot of ways. Pressure Defense, making the other team settle for bad shots, and trying to turnovers into easy buckets. As NeerFan said TO's killed us, play scrappy teams sometimes you get out scraped. Better than not playing them and never knowing.

Is that Matt Mullen for SK ?

Matt is biding his time starting on the frosh team. ryan is a senior, playing very good ball here of late.

I'm assuming this is a district game that has to be played?

Nice boune-back win for Owen Co. Did there bigs affect the slashers from Gallitin Co? I picked Gallitin because they always seem to have a sixth man at home.

Its embarrasing to say the least. Its easy to be a fan when your team is dominating such as in football but if you are a true fan and have pride in your school you show up for games, especially the CovCath game. If I am the administration at Highlands I am completely embarrassed.

Don't think your AD cares much about "other" sports, honestly thinks he just lets them play out. Remember when the Birds were always a tough out in basketball. Used to play a better schedule as well.

Does he have any Regional titles ? I know Carr has one or two with Scott and Chevaler is starting a nice run with Dixie. What has Steiner done with SK ?

Carr has 0 region titles and he wanted the SK job real bad when Trent got it.

Conseco is an awesome venue what a great experience for both teams and their families.

True that, Walton if there is any money left in the school next Christmas will be playing in the Milk Bottle in Orlando against either Williamstown or Eminence! Good Luck Bearcats! Just a rumor so far!

That's the prob....your not sure, SK was up over 10-15 the whole second half. Scott has one scoring option(Nic Jackson), play good defense on him he forces up bad shots and the the team is in serious trouble. I'm sure it was the worst game in the history of scott basketball because they lost.......They got outplayed by a team that plays better team defense, with more scoring options. It's a loss, sometimes it can help a team, looks better if you accept it.

I look at like SK starts a winning streak against scott by beating them by 15. Could have been a lot worse as SK subbed a lot the 2nd half. SCott never quit and brad never quit yelling.

Life is good over here. Good wins against some very good competition. Didn't spend all that money to go play Grant Co:confused:. That's ok, heard it was a great game! LOL Looking forward to the future............Let's play ball AGAIN.

Now that holiday tournaments are over, and most teams have at least ten games under their belt, we should have a pretty good idea of what teams are surprising, both in a positive and negative way. I'll get the ball rolling with a few teams.

 

Surprising:

 

Madison Central- We knew they'd be good, but they're still undefeated, and look to be a top 5 team in the state.

 

Clark County- They were supposed to be a middle of the pack team in the 10th Region. Instead, they're 12-2, won both of their holiday tournaments en route to ten straight wins, and look to be the second best team in the 10th.

 

Woodford County- They're 9-5 with wins over Ashland, Tates Creek, and East Jessamine, all without star Jay Johnson. Once Jay Johnson returns, they could make serious noise in the gauntlet that is the 11th Region.

 

Covington Holy Cross- They're 11-1, with two wins over Bowling Green, and a win over NCC and look to be the one of the favorites in the 9th Region.

 

Simon Kenton- 10-3, with wins over Ashland, Scott, and Harrison County. They look like one of the favorites in the 8th Region, other than their blowout loss to Gallatin County.

 

 

Disappointing:

 

Bryan Station- Looked like they'd compete in the 11th Region, but have got off to a dismal 3-10 start, including 0-5 in Region games.

 

Rowan County- Looked to be the class in a weak 16th Region after returning nearly everyone from their state runner-up team, but have gotten off to a 7-5 record, including a loss to 16th Region West Carter.

In reference to Simon Kenton, best 2 wins would have to be Fayette Co. Ga., ranked 8th and undefeated in 4A at the time and a good Lou. Central team. Ashland and Scott were not very close games. Harrison Co to there credit cut a large deficit and made it interesting at the end. Bad loss to Cooper. Out-hustled by Gallitin CO. Should be interesting in the 8th.

Heading down to Warsaw to see this one. I'd say GC wins 80-65.

Wow, just read the thread from start to finish. This is a really sad situation where it seems many have tried to sweep it under the rug as an adolescent mistake. Unfortunately Vance was 18 at the time of the admitted misconduct. I feel for both parties but mostly for the victim obviously as I have two daughters myself.

 

Some of the cover up stuff, if true, by the administrators and coaching staff at WV, makes me want to puke. If Dan Trame sold out the integrity of his name by issuing a gag order so he could get 18 pts a game in Orlando then he should be ashamed.

 

Not to beat on NCC here but if you think they were in the dark about the Sullivan situation then you are smoking the drapes. Sullivan certainly rounded out that pitching rotation and provided a nice bat for those 9th Region champs didn't he? Why didn't he choose Newport where is Grandpa is an Administrator? I was born at night but I wasn't born last night. This stuff just takes away from the purity of HS sports when you see it happening.

Very nice post, sharing a lot of my sentiments. Sounds like weakside needs to go somewhere ELSE to get friends. I hope the parents of this young lady own "poor little WV".
