  1. I do like watching a game that Fro is working. I also like to be watching the game from the sideline so I can give him heck.

I agree, Steve works great with the coaches and the players, have never seen a game he was the white hat, get out of control. There are a couple of other guys in NKY that do a good job, but Steve gets my vote hands down.

  2. The only other frosh class I have watched at BW is the current senior class. Taking Castleman out of the equation since I've never seen him I did not see a kid who I would project to start varsity as a sophomore. I didn't see any of the "big 4" from the current senior class.

That's not a shot. That's probably normal at schools like BW. It's a nice frosh class that a few years down the road will be bigger, stronger, and faster and will be a tough out.

I would agree that this years BW freshmen team doesn't have any of the big 4, with the exception of Castleman. But I think there may be a couple of these freshmen lineman who might contribute to next years varsity. Two that come to mind are #65 Derry and #71 Baugh. Of course that is just speculation on my part.

  3. Good question VOR, he is definitely in the conversation. Hergott, Wilmhoff, Wera are some other names that belong in the conversation, and others that I am sure I am not thinking of.

In looking at the stats posted, he only has 4 interceptions for his varsity career? May be accurate, but I remember him throwing 2 against Mayfield in last years semi state game, also thought he had one against Dixie, but my memory is starting to fail me.

Kid can sling it, no doubt.

  4. I guess my feeling is that it truly doesn't matter who is ranked #1 at this stage of the game. The only time it matters is when the final horn blows in Bowling Green, then we will know who the true #1 is. I like Beechwood, but Paintsville will be battle tested if they get there.

  5. Officials have been enforcing blocks away from the play for the past several years and I am completely ok with protecting a kid from a peel back block 20 yards behind a play, but when you are blocking in the middle of the field...you never know when and where the back may cut or reverse field, seems a little to subjective to me.

  6. I appreciate the feedback and welcome it. I start prediction threads every week on the games involving all the 1A ranked teams. I do polls like this every week on predictably lopsided games. A "who wins" poll is worthless on a game like this. The poll attached can generate discussion on what might happen in the game and is certainly more interesting than who wins. However, I am open to feedback. I don't want to disrespect a team, but I don't think there is any doubt who is going to win this game so I created a poll that will get different opinions on the game.

I personally like the prediction threads, even on games that on the surface will not be close. Keep up the good work, cant make everyone happy.

  7. All I can say is #75 is huge, and I cant remember the other lineman's number, #56 maybe, he was huge and a darn nice player as well. Those kids need to keep their head up, better days will come if they buy into the program.

I will say that if those kids buy into the option offense and stay disciplined, they will give DC in NKY a fit trying to defend it. Newport has the athletes to run that type of offense to perfection. I look forward to seeing how they progress next year.
