Beechwood wins, the final score will not be indicative of how good a game it will be. Beechwood pulls away late.....49-21

CovCath finally puts some demons to rest this week. Think it will be a great game with lots of scoring......CovCath 42 - Highlands 38

Come on, share some of that wisdom, I have been wondering the same thing myself. They play MSJ this Saturday....in looking at scores, they haven't even been competitive.

Great win for Eastern, you always wonder how young men will react to all the distractions. Good for them.

Qb's look better as time goes on. Fiedler will be a super stud 10 years from now.
That is funny and true, funny how time makes everything seem better.

I do like watching a game that Fro is working. I also like to be watching the game from the sideline so I can give him heck.
I agree, Steve works great with the coaches and the players, have never seen a game he was the white hat, get out of control. There are a couple of other guys in NKY that do a good job, but Steve gets my vote hands down.

The only other frosh class I have watched at BW is the current senior class. Taking Castleman out of the equation since I've never seen him I did not see a kid who I would project to start varsity as a sophomore. I didn't see any of the "big 4" from the current senior class.
That's not a shot. That's probably normal at schools like BW. It's a nice frosh class that a few years down the road will be bigger, stronger, and faster and will be a tough out.
I would agree that this years BW freshmen team doesn't have any of the big 4, with the exception of Castleman. But I think there may be a couple of these freshmen lineman who might contribute to next years varsity. Two that come to mind are #65 Derry and #71 Baugh. Of course that is just speculation on my part.

Good question VOR, he is definitely in the conversation. Hergott, Wilmhoff, Wera are some other names that belong in the conversation, and others that I am sure I am not thinking of.
In looking at the stats posted, he only has 4 interceptions for his varsity career? May be accurate, but I remember him throwing 2 against Mayfield in last years semi state game, also thought he had one against Dixie, but my memory is starting to fail me.
Kid can sling it, no doubt.

There were two Wulfecks.
Brad Wulfeck graduated in 1993 and he was an absolute stud.
Yes he was

I saw this group of CC Freshmen play in middle school last year, they were huge! Not sure if Ryle is undersized as I have not seen them play, but their must be something in the water around Alexandria, they grow them big out there.
-
Seems to be a great group of kids on both sides, excited about watching these two teams compete over the next few years.

Is he a freshman? The roster says he is a Sophmore.
Not sure why, he is a freshmen

I guess my feeling is that it truly doesn't matter who is ranked #1 at this stage of the game. The only time it matters is when the final horn blows in Bowling Green, then we will know who the true #1 is. I like Beechwood, but Paintsville will be battle tested if they get there.

Juggs roll, running clock early in the 3rd quarter

This is based on gut feeling, Highlands wins by 21

Officials have been enforcing blocks away from the play for the past several years and I am completely ok with protecting a kid from a peel back block 20 yards behind a play, but when you are blocking in the middle of the field...you never know when and where the back may cut or reverse field, seems a little to subjective to me.

should be a heck of a game, I don't have a dog in the fight, but am going to go out on a limb and pick Cooper to win by 3.

I appreciate the feedback and welcome it. I start prediction threads every week on the games involving all the 1A ranked teams. I do polls like this every week on predictably lopsided games. A "who wins" poll is worthless on a game like this. The poll attached can generate discussion on what might happen in the game and is certainly more interesting than who wins. However, I am open to feedback. I don't want to disrespect a team, but I don't think there is any doubt who is going to win this game so I created a poll that will get different opinions on the game.
I personally like the prediction threads, even on games that on the surface will not be close. Keep up the good work, cant make everyone happy.

Congrats to coach Rash on a job well done.

While I think HC is much improved this season, I have to believe NewCath wins this one by 14+.

One of my favorites is the stadium at Ludlow, tucked into a neighborhood and along the river, it is an environment that takes me back a lot of years.

All I can say is #75 is huge, and I cant remember the other lineman's number, #56 maybe, he was huge and a darn nice player as well. Those kids need to keep their head up, better days will come if they buy into the program.
I will say that if those kids buy into the option offense and stay disciplined, they will give DC in NKY a fit trying to defend it. Newport has the athletes to run that type of offense to perfection. I look forward to seeing how they progress next year.

I'm a Juggs fan, but cant say they are going to win this game. Hope that they prove me wrong. NewCath 28 - Lloyd 21
