  1. Is she talented enough to replace Benzinger? She will be hard to replace, and I was just wondering if she could fill that void. If so, Scott has the potential to make some noise next season, too.

She is a true point guard where Shelby was much more comfortable at the 2 guard. They will lose some offense brought by Shelby, but will add a point guard who can handle pressure and penetrate. It will be interesting to see the end result.

  2. The 10th region Girls Basketball Coaches Assciation recognized their Hall of Fame inductees and their all region teams today at their annual banquet in Maysville. It was a very nice event. Congratulations to:

Campbell Co had three players recognized on the various teams.

Congratulations to all the girls recognized and the Hall of Fame inductees. It was a nice afternoon.

  3. This was her. How was she allowed to play at Scott without sitting out a year. She played varsity sports at Calvary as a freshman?

My understanding of the situation is she was not allowed to play at first because of that situation. The move occured because Calvary did not offer varsity basketball this season so they appealed at the state level based on that fact and she was deemed eligible the last few weeks of this season. She lives in Scott's district.

  4. The younger sister is only a sixth grader and will not be in high school before Lauren graduates from Scott. Their father is the Asst. Principal at Dixie and Liza wants to attend Dixie so she is at Turkeyfoot and will eventually attend Dixie in a few years. The family lives in Scott's district and Lauren chose to attend Scott.

Well done and congratulations to all!

  7. Congratulations to the Lady Cards. It was a hard fought victory. Congratulations to the Lady Eagles for hanging in there and battling all the way to the end. No one gave you much of a chance to win the other night and battle as hard as you did tonight. Congratulations to Lauren Tibbs on another fabulous game tonight. (33 points)

  8. Seemed a little one-sided when Scott got their first foul of the second half with only 3:31 left in the fourth and the Saints already had 9 or 10 team fouls at that point. The refs got a standing ovation from Saints fans when they finally blew the whistle for that foul. How many times do you see the refs get that much love? LOL

    :taz::lol::taz::lol::taz:

I will admit that I am a little biased towards Scott, but please do not bring the refs into the result of this game. St. Pat plays an aggressive full court man to man which results in legitimate fouls. Scott played a 3-2 or 2-3 zone throughout. St Pat shot a lot of jump shots which does not tend to draw a lot of fouls. I will never say that refs are perfect, but Scott played a great game and lead for 90% of the game. I always tell my daughter that the refs do not determine the final score. That is ultimately determined by the play of both teams. Congratulations again to the Lady Eagles on a great game. Congratulations to St. Pats on a great season.

  9. Scott is very talented this year but for some reason it just never came or meshed together during the season for them to do any real damage. Looks like they are coming together though at the right time.

This was the best team effort of the year for Scott against a quality opponent. Tibbs did not have to carry the load. Davis really stepped up on the weakside when they were bringing the double teams. Benzinger had a great game and hit some big free throws down the stretch when St. Pats made their run. Pelle handled the pressure defense all night. Everyone that played contributed to this win. Way to go Lady Eagles on a big upset win.

  10. Montgomery by 40, Campbell by 25, St. Pat by 20, GRC by 15.

Semis: MC over CC by 30, GRC over St Pat by 10.

    Finals: MC beats GRC, 59-52.

St Pat only beat Scott by 5 in a hard fought game during the regular season. St. Pat is definitely the favorite. They are going to have to deal with Tibbs and her size in the middle. Tibbs had 26 and Benzinger had 23 in their first meeting. Lets see what happens.

  11. The biggest play of the game was the 3 by Kitchen late in the game. Also, I had a hard time trying to figure out why Scott did not foul to get to the bonus sooner?? 1:39 to go in the game and Scott needed 2 fouls to get to the bonus and did not foul until there was 0:56 seconds left in the game. Why wait so long? Also, they were only down 4 with 0:35 to go in the game and the coach told them to shoot a 3?? It is a two possession ball game and Peters had 4 fouls, the ball should have gone into Tibbs, than a time-out Scott. That would have put added pressure on Campbell to get the ball up the court and may have created a closer outcome or maybe different result.

Not to take anything away from Campbell which played a great game, but some of the coaching moves at the end by Scott had me scratching my head:confused:

I agree. The game was close and all they needed were a couple of good looks at the basket to keep the pressure on Campbell. There was time to find Tibbs and let her work down low and possibly draw some fouls. It has been a similar issue in other games that I have seen them play.

  12. Good for the Lady Eagles. They have had a trying season at times and I am glad to see them hang tough at crunch time and get to the district finals and play in the 10th region tournament. Should be a good game against Campbell Co on Thursday. Campbell won by 5 or 6 earlier but it was close all the way. The Eagles will need to bring their "A" game Thursday.

  13. Scott 57 Dayton 46

Senior night for Benzinger, Pelle and Davis. It was good to send them off with a win. Congratulations!!! Scott had to battle back in the second half to defeat a well coached and scrappy Dayton team. The seniors all contributed to the win. Tibbs hit some big free throws and two big baskets down the stretch to extend the lead.

  14. In a regional tournament this tough, you certainly want to go to the regional tournament as a winner so you draw a loser from another district in the first round. The semi finals and finals will more than likely be wars no matter which of the favorites get there. If I can get there as a winner and maybe have an easier opponent in the first round, I will certainly go all out in that district final. It definitely means something.

  15. St Henry 59 Scott 49

St Henry had a good run in the second quarter to take over the lead and maintained it the rest of the way. Scott had their chances in the second half but could not convert from the free throw line. Tibbs had 32 for Scott. St Henry was well balanced in scoring. Well disciplined team.

  16. Get things straightened out at Ryle, to play there next year.

If that is not possible, the only way to be eligible next year would be to move, have a change of residence.

On the high school level, once a player has participated in a varsity game as a freshman, then they must sit out a year in that sport unless they have a change of residence living with a legal guardian. I am not aware of any other way around that issue.
