  1. 3 Owen County students, 2 of them being seniors on the football team, were involved in a car accident on their way to school this morning. The 2 football players were Brandon Stevens #2, and Justin Stevens #3. Justin was flown out and Brandon is being treated at the Owen County hospital. The other boy involved was JD Chappel, who was also flown out. Please keep these boys in your prayers.

  2. You've obviously seen a different Sawyer Williams play than I have. I'm not saying that he doesn't have potential but alot of young kids do well as Freshman and Sophmores and then tend to level off as a Varsity player. He may be just a step above average for his age but there are several players out there that will matchup with him. I think there will have to be quite a bit of improvement for Division 1!

Agreed that D1 is a major stretch but I don't think you are giving the kid quite enough credit.

  3. Anderson will be 6 '6, 6 '4, 6 '3 starting line.

North Oldham will be 6 '6, 6'5 not sure who the other will be

    Shelby will be 6 '6, 6 '3, 6 '4

I don't see Owen being that much bigger. I know the Senior is the biggest kid in the region but the other 2 kids? I doubt either will do much in these matchups.

I disagree. I think they will surprise a lot of people.

  4. From the few games that I seen last year, Owen struggled with the outside shot. Neeley will help them a lot if she gets PT. I may be wrong but I believe she broke Gayhearts scoring records in the 8th grade last year.

Not that 8th grade scoring records amount to much when it comes to varsity, Neeley broke the single season scoring record. Gayheart still holds the overall scoring record for MBMS. Neeley has a lot of potentional. I look forward to watching her and Gayheart play TOGETHER.

  5. Yes, #5 is a good player. Needs to be more of a team player. Look at the stats. Lots of attempts and misses when team mates are wide open. A little selfish. Got a freshman coming in that is just as good but better because she is a "team" player. Hope their coach isn't afraid of putting her in when #5 is having a bad game. (Everyone has those!)

#5 is an extremely talented young lady. She made some freshman mistakes last year, as expected. However, I don't see any freshman on the team this season that can play up to her caliber.

  6. I have seen teams where the coach has congratulated a player after a deliberate foul and once I even heard a coach yell to his player on the court to 'hit them harder next time'. It was completely unnecessary and uncalled for. I also think when a player has a dirty foul, called or not, and the coach does not take the player out of say something to them about it, they are condoning this behavior and might as well be teaching them to play dirty.
