3 Owen County students, 2 of them being seniors on the football team, were involved in a car accident on their way to school this morning. The 2 football players were Brandon Stevens #2, and Justin Stevens #3. Justin was flown out and Brandon is being treated at the Owen County hospital. The other boy involved was JD Chappel, who was also flown out. Please keep these boys in your prayers.

I thought this would have been a much closer game. Congrats to the Rebels!

Frankfort by 14. They should have noooo problem with Gallatin.
-
Who are they returning?

You've obviously seen a different Sawyer Williams play than I have. I'm not saying that he doesn't have potential but alot of young kids do well as Freshman and Sophmores and then tend to level off as a Varsity player. He may be just a step above average for his age but there are several players out there that will matchup with him. I think there will have to be quite a bit of improvement for Division 1!
Agreed that D1 is a major stretch but I don't think you are giving the kid quite enough credit.

Owen will be very fortunate to get out of the opening round.
Why do you say that?
-
Anderson will be 6 '6, 6 '4, 6 '3 starting line.
North Oldham will be 6 '6, 6'5 not sure who the other will be
Shelby will be 6 '6, 6 '3, 6 '4
I don't see Owen being that much bigger. I know the Senior is the biggest kid in the region but the other 2 kids? I doubt either will do much in these matchups.
I disagree. I think they will surprise a lot of people.

From the few games that I seen last year, Owen struggled with the outside shot. Neeley will help them a lot if she gets PT. I may be wrong but I believe she broke Gayhearts scoring records in the 8th grade last year.
Not that 8th grade scoring records amount to much when it comes to varsity, Neeley broke the single season scoring record. Gayheart still holds the overall scoring record for MBMS. Neeley has a lot of potentional. I look forward to watching her and Gayheart play TOGETHER.

Yes, #5 is a good player. Needs to be more of a team player. Look at the stats. Lots of attempts and misses when team mates are wide open. A little selfish. Got a freshman coming in that is just as good but better because she is a "team" player. Hope their coach isn't afraid of putting her in when #5 is having a bad game. (Everyone has those!)
#5 is an extremely talented young lady. She made some freshman mistakes last year, as expected. However, I don't see any freshman on the team this season that can play up to her caliber.

What about Cooper Downs of Boone County and Sawyer Williams of Owen County?

I am going to go with Owen in this one. I think they will be ready for this tournament coming off such a hard loss in the All A championship last month.
-
I have seen teams where the coach has congratulated a player after a deliberate foul and once I even heard a coach yell to his player on the court to 'hit them harder next time'. It was completely unnecessary and uncalled for. I also think when a player has a dirty foul, called or not, and the coach does not take the player out of say something to them about it, they are condoning this behavior and might as well be teaching them to play dirty.
-
I think they should be allowed to play. At a lot of places the middle school and high school coaches do not cooperate on this. I never understood that. Isn't everything in the best interest of the team and making sure every player gets to their full potential? How can this be done if coaches are holding them back and not challenging them?

Vey disappointed in Knollman's reffing throughout the entire game not just the end. He is a better ref than he showed last night.
I completely agree. He let way to many things go. There is a difference between not seeing it and just not calling it.

:laugh: On the Gallatin part. This is the present.
Why are you so hostile against Owen County?
-
6'5 Sawyer Williams from Owen County is seeing a lot of varsity action and has even started a few games. He had a double double in a recent win over Gallatin County.

I think Owen will pull this one out. It will be a tough game and very close, but I think Owen will come out on top.
-
If the Braves thought that Owen County was a team to be played "down to", then there's the reason why they lost... Owen's a good team.
Very well said. Owen just outplayed Grant. That's all there is too it.
-
Grant by 10. Owen's big men don't finish strong, I think Grant runs them out.
Word on the street is Owen's big men are playing pretty good lately.

I am going to have to have to go with Owen on this one. They have been improving every game and I look for them to make things happen in this tournament.

Definitely! Owen County will definitely need him this year!
