Interested to hear who will playing on this team. Anyone have any info?
-
This guy needs to watch some more of the 8th.
Levitch would be my number 1 player.
I agree that Levitch would be my #1 player.
-
Is this age group this year's 8th graders or freshmen?

Braxton Beverly and Robert are no longer on the team and didn't participate in Nationals. Braxton rejoined KY Elite. Also, Carson Williams of Owen County and Thad Moss of Boone Co are on Hoop Dreams.
I asked the same question in April. Below is the reply I got. I'll paste the whole thing.Purple Pride. Per your request for team roster:
Paul Price - Edith Hayes Lexington (G)
Jordan Perry - Morgan County High (G)
Malik Manica - Collines (G)
Braxton Beverly - Perry Central (G) - did not play due to anke sprain
Quentin Gooden - Taylor County High (G/F)
Will Hager - Mercer County High (G/F)
Zac Pulliam - Harrison County
Malik Dow - Kamerrer/Ballard (F/C)
Anthony Robinson - Frankfort (F/C)
Robert ? - Tates Creek
Thad Moss-Boone Co
Carson Williams-Owen Co
Went to Nike Elite Invitational in Hampton three weekends ago. Beverly sprained ankle in first game. We went 2 - 1 in pool play, losing close one to DC Assault who went on to lose in championship of gold bracket by 2 (to NJ FACES). That loss knocked us down to silver bracket. We lost in championship of silver bracket by 5 to CP3 All Stars (Chris Paul's program). Play in Under Armour Jam Fest in Pittsburgh this weekend. Team looks good.

Hoop Dreams 14U out of Lexington, KY went to Nationals in Orlando a couple weeks ago and placed in the top 12 out of 104 teams.

Is Williams likely to get much taller?
His older brother, Sawyer, is 6'8. So it is definitely possible.
-
Silvergrove must not have checked Coach Aldridge's references before hiring him.
-
Owen County's Carson Williams was named to the Top 20 All Star team. Malik Dow (Louisville) and Quentin Goodin (Taylor Co) were named to the Top 40 Team. Congrats to these players for representing KY so well!

I wanted to say the same thing, but thought I would get laughed at.
Same here. I saw Burger play several times and he is a very nice player.
-
I'd have to include Simon Kenton in any top five list. They lost a really good player in Chambers, but they played a lot of juniors last year. And, they have a really good scorer in Sampson.
And, I'm not sure they're top five material, but doesn't Walton return a fair amount? Lost a good player in Hergott, but with McNeil and Moeves back with some of the other young talent they have, I'd think they'd be pretty good.
I have been told by a very reliable source that Walton will not be returning all of their players next season....and I am not talking about graduating seniors.

Sorry! I am not sure how I missed him. Thanks for clearing that up.

Carson Williams-Owen County

Congratulations to Sawyer!

If the two teams that lost in last night's semis had won, they may have been turning away people tonight.
No doubt!
-
Tight game the whole way through. The Rebels got down a little more in the 3rd but climbed back...Just never could get the lead. Both teams played great and worked very hard. I was impressed with the size of Oldham's student section as well. Hate to see the Rebel's season come to an end.
-
Owen County always has a huge crowd no matter where they go. They don't always have a huge student section, but their overall fan support is amazing.
-
Great crowd by Owen County last night.
-
Glad I made the trip tonight! Unbelievable. I knew the 8th would be full of surprises in the post season.
-
Correct me if I am wrong, but I believe the POY receives their award at halftime of the 1st state tournament game. They will also participate in the East-West All Star game against the top 2 senior players from each region across the state. This honor also gets them an automatic tryout on the Kentucky All Stars.

Congratulations to Rianna! As has been noted, a fine career. Am glad I got to watch her play on several occasions.
(Quick question, who's record(s) did she break? I'm guessing that that Katie Smith may have held the points record, but wondering if Blair Shryock may have had the assist record, since I believe Ellie Petzinger was playing at the same time. Anybody know?)
Ellie Petzinger’s most points in one season
Chasity Clark’s most assist in one season

I look for Williams to be a major varsity contributor at Owen as he will definitely be a starter.
