Not sure which game you were watching Bengal Maniac, but Newcath sat back in a zone practically the entire game.
As you stated, this was a 2-4 point game the entire game up until about the 3 minute mark when Newcath got a 3 to go ahead by 5.
Newcath was the better team and continues to have Holmes' number, plain and simple. When Hayes tied the score at 44-44, Brannen went to a stall ball method and it worked to perfection as it forced Holmes to be more aggressive and Newcath drew fouls.
On a side not, Newcath fans should be embarassed of the fan who made the comment about all the Holmes players looking alike when Brannen was yelling shooter. Absolutely classless and my girlfriend couldn't even believe a grown adult would stoop that low to say something like that about HIGH SCHOOL KIDS. Pathetic.
Congrats to Newcath on the W. Too much Hightchew and Geisler. Hightchew is one tough kid.
Please tell me you are kidding!!!! :irked:

Another example that the 9th Region is wide open.
Wide open between 4 teams..Dixie, New Cath. Holmes and Boone
-
I was thinking the same thing.
I think there is a good chance they will meet for the 3rd time in the regionals!

Has been like that for years. The gym is owned by the parish and they don't have the money to correct the problem
An exhaust fan would solve the problem.

Nice 20th win for the Colonels, this was their 10th straight road game. It will be nice to play at home on Monday. I heard this today, not one of Dixie's starters are 18 years old!
-
Thank you Walter..I agree
-
What an upset!! Great job on behalf of the Mustangs defense holding NCC's top 2 to 22 points combined.

Only if there was a trampoline available.
He had one in warm ups.....and it was without a trampoline.
-
This indeed was a very sluggish game. Really no flow to the game...too many whistles and both teams looked out of sync.
Hopefully NKU19, you get to see the real Dixie team in the future....this may have been their worst effort of the year.[/
I agree this is the most lack lustre game that Dixie has played. I'm glad I'm not the only one who felt the whistles were on the excessive side.

Dixie by 10 to go 15-0 for the year!
-
Sounds like Beechwood did a nice job guarding Thelen to only 10 points! I cant't wait to see the two Colonels play. Dixie has the premier guards and CC has the big men, should make for a great game!
-
Did Vance Sullivan play in this one?
-
Not a very impressive win by the cougars! They have the talent but just need to put it all together...Go Cougars!

I hate to say this because I have the utmost respect for Coach Shuemate, but Beechwood really needs a big win to hang their hat on and so far they don't have one. Fangman is a scorer but needs some big time support.

I would like to see how Dixie handles teams like Eastern, Fern Creek and a few other strong Louisville teams. At the present time, they do seem to have NKY in check.
Fern Creek?? Didn't they just get beat by Newport Catholic?
-
Dixie has a very good team, undefeated so far, but they have played a :bunny: schedule.
Are you saying that Connor, Campbell County, Newport Catholic, Colerain, Highlands, Montgomery County, Ashland and Scott are :bunny: teams? I think they may feel differently.

It is hard to let a team have a moment of glory

Another nice win for the 11-0 Colonels. They jumped on the Crusaders in the first quarter and then seemed to put it in Neutral. I give credit to St. Henry as they are very young with not much size. You know that Coach Fauts gets the most out of his kids.
-
I heard that Zach Barnett was out for the year with a knee injury. That's a tough blow to the Crusaders, Dixie by 20.
-
I like Ryle's chances in this one! Ryle is too big and physical for Holmes.
-
Holmes does not have an answer for Stauffer. Look for him to have a big night!
-
Dixie will be fine, however he would have been a nice addition going into districts! Keveon has played with some of the Dixie players in AAU in the past, so the kids know him.
-
Tough to say. They've put on a show in Northern Kentucky. But they've also yet to play a team in the top 20, or even on the outskirts of it.
Agreed...but Mason County is ranked in the top 20 and hasn't faired well as of late. I just think Northern Kentucky teams do not get the recognition they deserve. Cov Cath could be another argument for the same cause.

I still think Trammell is the key to the leadership on the floor.
