  1. I don't think Ryle has used their size to their advantage all year. Beechwood fans were making the same comment after the game. For the most part the big players have worked to get the scraps on the offensive side most of the year. Which is ok I guess but there have been several mis-matches all year and they have not taken advantage of it and many times when the ball goes inside it hits the player's knee which to me indicates that it is not something that is practiced nor a priority for the team. On the D side of the ball the big guys have worked well and maybe that's their main responsibility. I would never expect one of Ryle's big guys to walk away from a game with a lot of points. I would say for one of them to score 10 - 15 would be huge but all 3 are capable of scoring 20 plus. This is just an outsider's opinion.

Not sure I agree with all the above statement. I thought Ryle did a pretty good job of getting the ball inside the other night against Beechwood. The big guys just could not finish. Ryle's 4 inside players, Nichols, Stauffer, Russell, and Lamping were 5 for 19 for the game and I would say 15 of those shots were from 2 feet or less. But to their credit, they all played good defensive and shut down Beechwood inside game. Beechwood made more 3 pointers in the game than 2's, 9 to 8.

  2. As cooperstown mentioned above, Ryle has good skill players coming back that have varsity experience. The question mark will be the offensive and defensive lines. They did have several injuries to underclassman last year in these positions so if those guys can come back strong along with the backups from last year, it could be a good year for the Raiders. Ryle lost a lot of good defensive players, Nick and Gus Murray, Josh Lamping, Chris Brzinski, Jeremy Poe to name a few. Those guys will be missed but Logan Carney is a good defensive back that is returning. Court Mace, Logan Holman, Connor Coyle along with some others will be looked at to fill those positions. Ryle will be in the 2nd year of transforming their offensive so they should be more consistent when they have the ball.

  3. Boone Co. 10 8 13 19 - 50

    Ryle 7 12 8 3 - 30

    Boone

    Gabbard - 12

    McFarland - 4

    Cotton - 14

    Brown - 4

    Popp - 8

    Earls - 8

    Ryle

    Ahern - 3

    Lamping - 2

    Russell - 2

    Coleman - 5

    McLeish - 9

    Nichols - 1

    Stauffer - 6

    Butts - 2

Boone forced the Raiders into a lot of turnovers in the 2nd half and when the Raiders did get shots off, they were not falling.

  4. Pittman ALWAYS talks in games, but at the same time he backs it up and always shows respect toward his opponent. He fouled a player last night, laughed and then gave them a smack on the butt as the kid walked to the foul line.

Apparently Stauffer started getting frustrated and took cheap shots at both Pittman and JJ. JJ is one of the most quiet kids on the court. Anytime Stauffer would get the ball down low, he'd lower his shoulder and lunge in to Pittman, only to have him not move anywhere because he was honestly too big and strong. Then when any player ran his way he was throwing elbows at them to push them out of his way. That's what caused the stoppage in play.

Not sure about the second part of this commit "Pittman ALWAYS talks in games, but at the same time he backs it up and always shows respect toward his opponent." I saw him after the game when the teams were shaking hands still taunting Stauffer.

  5. Does anyone have Ryle's stats?

    Ryle stats:

    Coleman -13

    Lamping - 6

    McLeish - 6

    Russell - 5

    Nichols - 5

    Stauffer - 4

    Stinson - 2

Holmes shot 40% for the game, Ryle shot 34%

Free Throwns Holmes 70% Ryle 57%

    3 pointers Holmes 35% Ryle 21%Ryle

    Talk about missed opportunities.

One of Ryle leading scorer, McLeish hardly played in the first half due to fouls.

IMO Holmes in is the best team in the state but Ryle played them well tonight. It wasn't because the Johnson brothers were in foul trouble and missed opportunities. Ryle had the same issues.

Holmes has a great team and J. Riley is not only a great player but seems to be a great young man as well.

One bright spot for the Raiders tonight was their JV team beat the Bulldogs. I believe that was only their 2nd lost of the year.
