Great win for the Raiders. At the beginning of the year I do not believe to many people thought that Ryle could go 18 and 12 in the regular season and be district champions. Coach Mullins has taken a lot of heat the past years and I think this season proves he is a pretty good coach. IMO he should be coach of the year in the 9th region and be in the mix for state honors as well.

From where I was sitting both goaltending call looked correct. Like stated above, the first one there was no doubt. He grabed the rim. Second one could have gone either way.

Every school has a few kids that go to far and some fans that are idiots. I have been around Ryle athletics for the past 6 years and know we have had a few moments that I felt were an embarrassment to our school and community. But I will say the times I have witness it happening the school administrators puts a stop to it. Last year when we played Boone Co. in basketball, some of our students decided it would be a good idea to sit right behind the Boone Co. bench. Before they even got sat down an assistance principle from Ryle was there telling them to get up and get back down to the other end of the gym.

The link did not come out right on the above post. It is ustream.tv/channel/ryle-high-school-football-2010

For you Trinity fans that are not able to make the trip to Union Friday night and for that matter the Ryle fans as well, Ryle broadcast their games on the internet.
I believe is the link. You will have to put up with our announcers but at least you can see and hear the game. I will say our announcers are good guys but I am sure they will come across as homer which in my opinion they should. -
The Hempels are a great family. It starts at the top with Rich and flows all the way down. Conner finish strong this season not only in football but baseball as well. Good Luck at Harvard!
-
Travis Elliott is a football player. He wants to play football, period. If he plays tonight it is becase the doctor has cleared him to play. It has nothing to do with who Ryle is playing.
-
Travis might not have known where he was at at the end of the game but he did have quite a game. The game started with him taking the opening kickoff 93 yards for a touchdown. He carried the ball 23 time for 242 yards and 2 other TDs.

Good job Conner, good win for Coach T and the team!

Great win for the Raiders. Only the 2nd district championship in the schools history. Raiders played very well and Boone defense IMO was not that bad. Especially in the 2nd half. They really pressured Ryle but the Raiders were able to still get the ball up count and score. Wonder if it had anything to do with how they are coached? Anyway, Coach Mullins takes a lot of heat when things or going bad in Union and should now get some praise when things are better. Congratulations to the Raiders and good luck next week at the regional tournament. There should be some great games down at NKU.

Avery did play.
-
Pretty much, but hey the might still get the 1 seed.
-
SK has about as much of a chance of beating St. X in Louisvile tonight as the Bengals did of beating the Steelers in Pittsburgh last week.
-
Nick West is a very good QB but I think sometimes people forget Ryle has a very good QB as well in Conner Hempel. Hopefully the wind is down tonight and it does not rain so the passing games are not effected by the weather. Should be a good one!
-
Interesting how this has been so much easier so far than the 9th region games.
9th region had some good teams this year. Boone Co, Ryle and Highlands, just to name a few.
-
In an up tempo game Holmes will be hard to beat. But Holmes can play defense too as they proved in their 9th region games against Ryle, NCC and Boone. Good Luck to the Bulldogs. If they can win the next 3 or for that matter if the state champ comes from any of the teams in the bottom bracket they will have to play against 3 really good teams.
-
Does anyone have the Holmes FT numbers? It was ugly.
Holmes was 6 for 13 from the line.
Pittman 4 for 11
R. Johnson 2 for 2
-
I think some of you might be missing the fact the Ryle plays pretty good defense too. Maybe that had a little to do with The Bulldogs scoring only 41 points. It was a good win by Holmes and shows they are able to gut it out in a tough defensive game. Both teams played hard tonight.

Boys 9th Region Draw
in KY Boys Basketball (High School)

No easy draw for anyone in the 9th region. In past years you could look at the bracket and say which team might have a little easier road. This year no easy road for anybody. I believe there are 6 teams that could win and it not be that much of a surprise.
