The photo of NewCath's kicker, Chris Grosser, is incorrect. The photo shown is NewCath soccer player, Chris Grosser.
Interesting, I saw that also. Bet the kicker liked that one.
Must be confusing going to the same school with a kid that has the same name and also is the same age.

He played very well. I saw both West and Guidugli this year. It's a toss up. West did EVERYTHING for Conner. Guidugli was surrounded by a star studded offense and that may have been the deciding factor. If you swap the two players schools, West had just as much ability to win the state championship with Highlands and Tony would have lit it up at Conner. It really was 1A and 1B. I don't think that there is too much of a gripe w/ that.
Good point.
Congrats to all who made it, this was an exciting year.

In some ways I agree with ColonelMike. Its kind of hard to just rank these teams nationally. I see the only way you could do that is if they played.

How was Ben as a Sophomore in comparison. Is that size from the media guide??? The older brother (Shawn???), went to Union as well. I saw him on the NCC sidelines this year and he is only 5-7 to 5-8, not very big. Mark looks only 5-8 to 5-10, thus I didn't think Chris would get that big. But he has the heart of a lion and will get whatever he can get out of his body no matter what. I'd love to see him go D1, I guess I just figured size would be a problem but I hope I am wrong. He's a great kid
Yes, Shawn graduated from Union and he is a shorter, bulky guy. Although Ben who is a Senior at Union this year I believe is 6'2. Also with Chris being taller than his older brother Mark, will go on to grow another two inches. Chris is already 6' and like 192 as a sophomore. I agree, he's a great kid
-
??? who plays at Union? Not sure he's that tall
Yes he plays a union, he's 6'1 for sure, an maybe 6'2, tallest in the family.
-
Those are just from the Louisville area right ? I think the Enquirer will be butting out it's all star team tomorrow
-
I don't think anyone in the family is more than 6-0' tall, which Chris is not at this time. I think Chris has all the talent, but it may be a stretch to see him with that size play D1
They have an older brother Ben who I believe is 6'2
-
Who is getting a look? I think 6-8 can play at the next level.
So far from what I know/heard, the boys that are getting interest are Ben Parr, Robby Kues, Mark Kelly, Chris Grosser, Nate Rawe, Jake Kiernan, Greg Willett. I think that's it if im not mistaken.

Didn't see a thread about this so I didnt know if anyone would like to comment on tonights game between NewCath and Highlands.

Sorry but I'll have to humbly disagree here. I've seen all the mentioned OF's here at length and Barrett most definitely belongs in their company. Lokesak stands out to me as the best of the bunch and Barker is right there as is Nutini. Ronald and Thomas both need work at the plate but are both strong considerations here. Let me also throw out Kelley at NCC, Nick Hiller at Scott, Thomas Noll at Conner and James Jones at Dayton as just a few more mentionable ones. There are definitely some more but my mind doesn't work like it used to anymore.
I agree with most of those. But I'm sorry, I'm going to respectfully disagree, Barrett is not near the top, maybe at Bellevue, but certainly not NKY. But the others I agree
-
From what I saw last year through the playoffs, Mark Kelly is going to be one of the top outfielders in the region.
Agreed, hopefully his knee is doing okay by baseball season.
-
Even though he dont get much recognition, Thomas Barrett from Bellevue is a great outfielder.
Is this just based on outfield? Just curious, watched him pleny of times last season and at the plate he couldn't make contact. Other than that I think he's okay, most def not anywhere near the top in NKY.
-
Look for the Meyer and Parr kids to step up and be big contributors to the NCC program this year. Must be nice to have such talent waiting in the wings.
How could I forget! that kid is a good athlete. Great pitcher also. If Im correct I think he was the only sophomore that moved up last year to help out varsity.
-
I saw him against Hoptown too... IMO he's no Mr. Football. He's a solid player, but he's not going to get the touches and stats to make him a serious candidate.
Agreed

Okay, since some best of threads are being thrown out, why not one for each position.
Catcher: Luke Maile CCH, Sam Liggett Highlands,
First Base: Tyler Brake Conner, Zach Eisler CCH
Second Base: Jeramie Connor NewCath, Logan Carney Ryle, let him play & see
Third Base: Ryan Darner CCH, David Etscheid Ryle
Shortstop: Hunter Jones Bellevue, Chris Rizzo Highlands
Outfield: Daniel Lokesak Boone, Dustin Barker Holy Cross, Brandon Nutini CCH
Pitchers: Jeramie Connor NCH, Andy Roeneker Holy Cross, Brandon Nutini CCH, David Etscheid Ryle, Daniel Hammons Ludlow
Great ball player. Speed, good arm. Just needs to work on his hitting a little bit and he'd be gold. Although outfield is a great spot for him, especially with that size 16'' glove that he uses lol. He's also a very nice kid.

I don't think HHS weight room would pass section 8 inspection. :
Lol NewCath's wouldn't either. Although, they have big plans for the future for their facility. They already started building onto the school. It looks good so far and will be featuring a new weight room. Also a new football turf field on campus.

Overall opinion on this game, the better team won. FC is one heck of a team, I give them props. And also to NCC who played a great game too. NCC would score, but of course FC would come right back with an answer.
Goodjob to both teams.
I was excited to see that 38 yard field goal to give the Breds the lead. I just wish NCC coulda pulled it out. O well, good luck to both teams next year.
-
SuperFalcon, you need to settle down. She's just explaining her thoughts.
Although, I do agree with her on some things. On the field during the game, FC was a little more disrespectful. Sitting in the stands, I heard numerous comments that were being yelled at us by the FC players. On the other hand, after the game, it looked as if they were a completely different group, they seemed very respectful when both teams shook hands.
Congrats to FC on the win and also to the Breds on a amazing season.

• 1 illegal shift
• 1 personal foul
• 1 offside on a kickoff

4th!! Do you honestly think FC could beat all the teams below them?
-
No I wouldn't go that far, are they moving it next year and why? What is wrong with PJS?
-
Agree. I think he only had 8. I think he would have scored more if he didn't try to shoot as many threes and outside shots. I know he had several in the previous game, but I think Boone probably played better perimeter defense and didn't give as many open looks. He has nice hops and size. He and Pangallo seemed to be the only scoring threats and took most of their shots. Conner had a hard time creating his own shot off the dribble, as did Meyer.
I completely agree.
Geisler is a great player, and through the year will only get better.
Although, even though Olberding was injured, him playing against Boone still wouldn't help their chances of winning. Boone is just an all around better team.
-
People might, but the Coach Rash and his Tigers won't.
Good to hear, goodluck Tigers!
-
Sure I can, but since you asked:
To answer your question and mine: “none” and “Ft Campbell”. I’m sure you know what Fort Campbell’s schedule was just like I know what NCCs schedule was. However, isn’t this year’s scheduling a reverse of last year’s with maybe one or two differences?
True, but would you say that you are the same exact team as last year? Just because we play the same teams as last year does not mean they are the SAME team as last year, there is time for improvement. NCC has for the most part played the same teams as last year, with the exception adding a better team or two.

Yes, the Grosser boy did have shoulder sugery, I saw the young fellow in a sling.
Although, to voice my opinion, I think the seniors up at newcath pretty much have a lock on the positions. As for underclassman, I think Chris Kelly could be getting plenty of time at catcher if not starting and the the meyer kid pitching. I can't see Seibert out playing Rawe, Rawe has speed and a good bat, not to mention a good SS, so he wont be replaced by seibert.
