  1. Don't they host the Monticello-Wayne County game at least once a year? I'd have to think that if they can do that they can host the district. After all those 2 rivals usually bring out a full crowd to watch them play each other. You have to keep in mind that when McCreary, Wayne and SW hosted the district they DIDN'T clear the gym between games. With the gym cleared there will be less people staying over to watch both games. As for Somerset's gym, the renovation didn't add any seats to the gym. The seatback chairs simply replaced the stage seats--all of the original bleacher seats were simply refinished and put back in place. The capacity didn't change by any measurable number.

Yeah they do host the Wayne and Monticello game. As a matter of fact I was talking to one of Wayne County's fans today and he said that the gym isn't big enough to hold a regular seaon game between the two much less the district tournamnet. And you have to take into consideration also all the people that get in the free. Even if they do clear the gym all they have to do is come right back in. So what are you accomplishing there?

  2. That is way under its capacity. According to the KHSAA it has a listed capacity of 1400 and since it was just inspected I'd have to think it is closer to that than 350, here's the link: Seating. I think that might be a bit high but I'd say with 7-8 rows of seats down the sidelines and in one endzone it should be around 1000. They'll probably have to clear the gym in between sessions but as long as it is safe they should be able to host the District when it is their turn.

Somerset had a hard time seating the district when they held it before the renovations. And their gym is twice the size of Monticello's. McCreary, Wayne, and Southwestern all were just about to capacity whenever they hosted the tournament. and even with clearing the gym between sessions there is no way it will be able to hold everybody.

  3. Southwestern is pretty good but they don't play anyone very good so you don't really know how good they are. I saw them as 8th graders last year and they were impressive but they looked really old. I assume that most of them have stayed back. If so, they are really sophomores playing agaist freshman, age wise, so they may not improve like some of the other teams will. They probably are the best team in the 12th but are they as good as advertised? Time will tell.

The Epperson brothers are the only ones that has been held back. But why are you complaining? I'm sure you have some players that possibly have or could have been held back. There's nothing illegal about it. I'm sure Southwestern isn't the only school that have players that have been held back. And yes they have played some good competition. This past Saturday they played in a round robin at West Jessamine High School and played Bryan Station in the first game and in the second game they played West Jessamine. Neither one of them teams are a bad ball team. West played the Warriors tough. So whenever it is we play your team you can come see that they are better than advertised.

  4. Well I got word today that it is going to be at Monticello. This is a horrible mistake I'd rather drive to Mercer County and play our district games there at least we could seat everyone comfotably. The parking situation is horrible and the seating is just unreal. that gym might hold 350 people...maybe that's pushing it.

  5. Southwestern played Danville tonight and won by like 25. The Warriors had the Ads down by 20 by halftime. The Warriors just got too relaxed and was just careless with the ball. They should have beat Danville by about 40 or more points. Now don't get me wrong Danville has a nice team. It was Southwestern just had a little more experience as far as playing together.

  6. I was there and I don't think they were following orders from the fan, it was probably more coincidental than anything because I don't remember that sequence of events and it was quiet enough to have heard something like that from anywhere in the gym.

It was during the final timeout that Boyle took. I don't know how you couldn't have heard or seen him he stood up and yelled it.
