I would have to guess that someone has worked with them on their shooting due to the fact that for the most part, they all have the same set up and delivery.

SK put on a shooting clinic. They may have set a school record for 3 pointers.

She looks like a 7 footer playing in a 6 foot and under league. Not to mention good moves to the basket and soft hands. If teams try to double up on her, she finds the open player. Very hard to shut her down.

Newport did not show up. It was not on their schedule for some reason.

I have not seen Daugherty's name from Ludlow the last 2 games. She hurt ?

The situation was a couple of years back. According to the players, one of the assistant coaches was using foul language, nothing really terrible but still, four letter words. The coach was also making less than desirable remarks about one of the players. A couple of parents asked to be aloud to sit in on practices and were told no way. The AD was then brought in. The situation was handled. It was then that I asked a high school AD about closed practices and was told they were not permitted. Nothing to do with Andy Elkus. But I do hope things get better.

Again, is there a rule that allows or doesn't allow this ? Does the KHSAA have anything on this ? The parent issue has been discussed in many threads before and we're all aware of the problems. As far as wanting to attend practices, there could be a number of reasons, however, just looking for an answer to the question.

Just curious. Are coaches permitted to conduct closed practices ? I know our coach does this. No one allowed, not even parents. I was told a couple of years ago by a HS athletic director that by rule they cannot close them. Do all or most coaches do this ?

A disappointing 2-4 that includes two 30 point losses. This team returns 4 starters from a team that was very competitive last year. Shooting the ball is an obvious problem. A lot of shots that are rushed and have no touch.

Lots of fouls. 16 in the first quarter alone, 8 on each team + 1 technical foul. Game was extremely over-officiated. Too many phantom calls. However, the game was close and exciting at the end.

Extremely disappointing for a team that returned 4 starters from last year. A lack of sound fundamentals is a good place to start. Passing, shooting and rebounding are all problems. They've only made a total of 23 FG's in the last 2 games. They get out-rebounded every game because they don't box out and get in to rebounding position when the shot goes up. They don't get enough out of their passing game. They have quick guards who can penetrate the middle of a defense, but too often they don't find an open player to pass to and instead try to shoot over 2 defenders. I'd also like to see someone step up and take a leadership roll on this team to try to bring the girls together and have better focus. It's still early in the season and there's time to get things straightened out, but so far they are terribly under-achieving.

I thought Dixie's starting 5 looked quick and showed a lot of hustle. They seemed to play better together than they did last year. I also like the new coach and his staff. I'd like to see this team with a true post player and some depth on the bench.

I believe he has coached at the Middle School level for about 20 years along with being the AD part of that time. It is my understanding that the search was limited to in-house applicants of which there were 3. By in-house, I assume that means Kenton County Schools. Don't no anything about his style of coaching or how successful he has been, but hope he is a good fit here.

I've heard that Andy Elkus has been named the new head coach, Coming over from Summit View M.S.

I don't believe the Ludlow coach is a candidate. Dixie's administration would prefer someone who is also a teacher at the school.

Seems to me that this would be a good place for the right coach to land. This school has become a very nice campus thanks to recent updating. Has a new spacious gym. It's in a great location. And more importantly, they have some nice talent returning. They lost only one player to graduation.

Heard from a very reliable source that Holly Spritzky resigned.

Actually, all of the names mentioned above were top players in N. KY. last year. There's a lot of talent out there. Any names that we haven't heard of that may become top players in N. KY. ?
