  1. IMO, I think Gallatin Co. is ranked to low. They did go to the All A Sweet 16 last year. I believe they will beat Owen on a consistent basis this year who is ranked 3rd. I do like to see my SK team ranked 2nd. :ylsuper: As far as player rankings, I feel Syndi Wainscott is the best point guard in the 8th and should be ranked higher than 6th. I also think that Brooke Hill (Gallatin Co.)who is ranked 10th has by far the best opportunity to play at a nice school at the next level. Kelly Dixon (Walton Verona) also is a solid player to watch this season. I can't comment on the teams further South as I've not seen them play much and some not at all. Again, this is just my opinion and I'm hoping that SK can have another successful year.

  2. SK will need a lot of people to step up to cover the loss of scoring that they graduated from last years team. They should still be good defensively because that is Stowers type basketball. Rebounding and defending the post may be an issue with a much smaller team than in the previous years. Good luck SK!

  3. Why do you think they are on the bench? Can they play defense? Do they work hard in practice?

Here is a question for you, Is it easier to teach a kid that can dribble and shoot to play defense or a kid that can play defense how to shoot and dribble? Which one requires more skill? The few times I seen WV play this year, turnovers, ball handeling and being able to score has been a problem. At SK, we play very good defense but also have kids that can score.

  4. Congrats to SK on a district win. This means we will be the number 1 seed in the district, but we will have to play a lot better than we have the last few games to go deep in the regional tournament. Congrats to Ali and Sydney for picking up some of the offensive production while Tolliver was in foul trouble. As for WV, congrats to the 8th grader Sandlin, for putting up 17 points against a quality team. A few times that I have seen WV, they play hard, but lack offensive production. I think they have only a few girls that are able to score. Although this team is young and I feel that they will only get better over the next couple years.

  5. I don't know if I have ever seen a 8th grader as good, or with as much talent as Sandlin from WV. I did not know that she was only 12 yrs. old. I believe she is already a starter at WV. From what I have seen she has already been leading scorer and leading rebounder on several occasions. I can only imagine how good she will be with more experience. I think your best five underclassmen would be Hill from GC 5, Sandlin from WV 4, Wilhoit from W-town 3, Gayheart from Owen 2, Wainscott from SK 1 (possibly the best point guard in the 8th.) The eighth is definitely loaded with young talent.(Devine and Curry are also very nice players.)

  6. I have seen the Sandlin girl that plays for WV a few of times this year. I can't believe she is only an 8th grader. She may be the best all around player that WV has. She seems like a leader on the floor, and always seems to put up big numbers (points and rebounds). This girl is going to be really good. Good luck to her and the WV team for the remainder of the season.

  7. Walton has been playing pretty good defense all year. Scoring sometimes can be a problem. I'm sorry I don't know which Trimble County player Mitchell is. But, things you can always count on from Trimble are playing hard and being well coached. After being down 17-2 at the end of the 1st quarter I thought the Trimble kids dug down and played hard. Walton seems to be improving with each game. Walton has lost 5 games by 4 points or less. So a stop here and a basket there they could be 9-2. Of course that is wishful thinking on my part, the reality is they are 4-7, but improving.

It does sound like they are improving. Way to go Lady Bearcats! Keep up the good work.
