Coach Copley is putting a well disciplined, in-shape, hard hitting, confident team with a lil swagger on the field tomorrow night. We have a really good chance at having a special season.. I am very proud of my son and the rest of our team.

The Independent’s football tab came out this morning. I only had time for a quick look. The cover had 4-players: Johnson Central’s Dillon, Russell’s Rice, Ashland’s Alber and someone from Greenup Co. I think.
Anyone get a chance to read it yet?

Proud of the boys for coming together, Coach Copley has done a great job getting them ready, very disciplined, in shape, mean and tough team he will have on the field Friday night.
-
This one will be tight, knowing both teams from the perspective that I do, Greenup is going to have to play an outstanding game and not making any mistakes, they do this and it goes down to the wire and they get a win....

I didn't see where anybody link the story to the forum.

Great story, hadn't read it, thank you Blue...

Going to have a good camp this week.

I just hope it all works for the best. GCHS fans have a tendency to be like UK fans and not give a new coach a fair shake, but seeing the things going on in Greenup reminds me alot of whats taking place in Lexington. Thanks for the new hope, to both coaches, Cal and Cope.
We are very fortunate to have Coach Copley and his staff.

"If it ain't broke, don't fix it." Everybody knows that old saying.
Just as relevant, but not as oft-quoted, "If it IS broke and you don't fix it, expect it to stay broke."
Kudos to Coach Copley and the Greenup administration, parents, etc. for having the courage to try something new rather than falling back on "well, that's just the way it's always been done."
Amen Coach....

Got the word yesterday that the lights will be installed by the first game, the field house will be in the progress of being built, the bleachers are going to get done after the season.
The field has an excellent crown on it, sprinkler systems are working now and the grass in the middle of the field (where all of our work will be done) is getting thicker as we speak.
Very nice job done on the field.
GCHS administration and school board is doing some great things for the program and we most certainly appreciate it.
The Touchdown Club under Grub's leadership is doing some great things too.
Truly awesome.

Good pictures recpark, thanks for sharing them. Looks like the players are getting some work in.
Ram, best thing GCHS football has done in quite sometime. The boys are getting in some great work, last day is today and last meal is this evening and they are having a good one.
My son said two things to me yesterday during the 4 hours I was there, Dad I need some money and Dad I think this is the hardest thing I have ever done in my life, lol...
They will be in shape for games this year, Coach Copley and his staff are making sure of that and are doing one heck of a job with the kids.

Nice pictures! I honestly don't know why Coupon was worried about being in the pictures. Unless it is that Marlboro habit of his...........
LOL, good one Doc, we all got our vices though....

Thanks Rec, my parole officer said "no more pics of me on the internet." LOL.
No problem Coup.. :thumb:

Why don't you post them on BGP? We would love to see them.
There you go Ram, with Coup edited out.... LOL

We did lose a player this summer due to grades. With the new coach's emphasis on grades, and higher expectations this shouldn't be a problem in the future. Coach will be checking grades on a weekly basis and boys with any grade lower than a C will lose playing time. Coach Copley has arranged for after practice tutoring for those that need the extra help.
This is one of the reasons he is strong, he sets higher expectations than what is required and I love it.

Had a good turnout last night for the opening of mandatory practice. Coach met with the parents before practice started and introduced his coaches and talked about his expectations. I loved his emphasis on grades. He will be stricter than the very poor KHSAA standards.

This is awesome. I hope that the numbers stay like that as they move to the high school team. I want to see my alma mater contending in 4A for Regional championships and beyond! I never got to play in a playoff game and I'd like to see the GC boys play 3 or more a year!:thumb:
Going to happen soon Doc....

:thumb::thumb: To both of you and all GC fans. I didn't want that post taken wrong. I was really complimenting the GC fan base and personally am glad to see the interest back, it certainly has been a long time since I have seen this much interest in GCHS football.
It is Very exciting to see all the support, excitement and improvement in such a relatively short period of time.
We in Greenup County are going to be able to say we have 3 Class programs, Russell and Raceland are already there and GCHS is well on its way, all we need our boys and coaches to do is keep building a solid disciplined program and then win ball games.:thumb:
-
Sad..............
If he wouldn't work in the classroom, probably wouldn't have on the field either.
Yup, good kid, hate to see that happen...

Well, we lost one due to grades this summer...

Coach Copley and his coaching staff are an excellent bunch of young talented coaches and they will get these kids and this program where GCHS wants it to be, tough game, Ashland was by far a better team, very good, one of the best Ashland teams starting out I have seen in 20 years of officiating football (2 years from the stands, lol), these boys just need to learn from this shake it off, hold their heads up and go out next week and give Russell all they can handle and bring home a W!!!:thumb:
