  1. Have Elliott #7 and BGP has them #11 They have UHA at #26 and they lost to #5 Male by 2 in finals KOB. UHA should be at least somewhere between 10-15. They have Shelby County #17 and Anderson County beat them by 7 in Shelbyville. Anderson County is 6-0 in the region with wins over Simon Kenton, Gallatin County, Oldham County (twice), and Shelby. Clark County is #15. Montgomery beat Clark by 10 and isn't in the top 25?? Henderson County #18?? I would have Madisonville #18 who lost by 4 to UHA this past week. Thoughts......
  2. One thing is for sure. You have to believe you can win before it happens. For that I salute Raceland fans and all fans of their teams. And you are correct. Upsets happen all the time in the sports world so one can never say never. Good luck
  3. Well I stand corrected. Rose Hill has a losing record, but the other teams in the 16th have good records (Ashland, Raceland, Fairview, Bath, and East Carter). Even West Carter is 11-6 and has a winning record.
  4. Lions are 10-0 in the region with an average win margin of 32ppg. Until somebody makes it a single digit game then any ray of hope is pretty dim for teams in the 16th. Raceland, Ashland, East Carter, Bath, Fairview, and Rose Hill all have outstanding records, but have been blitzed by Elliott County. To be honest Elliott probably needs a single digit game, but based on what's happened so far I would not bet the farm on it happening.
  5. I agree with GOMEZ's comment. Milan (INDIANA) has never again seen the success they had in 52/53 and 53/54 and they are still a HS playing basketball as we speak. After Ferg, the twins, and C. Knipp graduate Elliott will be back to being Elliott County. But for now, this is their one chance to shine(this year and next) and that one team in a century that can put little Sandy Hook (population 690) on the map. It has Field of Dreams and a Hoosiers fairy tale story written all over it. Only time will tell if their dreams come true!!! To 6,000 in Elliott County many of us share those dreams with you!!! David slaying Goliath always is a good story!!!
  6. Question is can anybody in the 16th?? Again the answer is fast--NO Unless Elliott shoots about 25% and a 16th Region team shoots 60%. Odds of that happening are as good as HADES freezing thick with ice tonight!!! Even if the above shooting % panned out it would probably still be a single digit victory for the Sandy Hook Gunslingers!!
  7. As an outsider 120 miles from Sandy Hook and in love with this fun team, let me tell you my concerns going deep into March (not that they can't still get to Saturday in Rupp) 1) Timmy--You are 6'7" and you have some talent. Everyone knows you can shoot the three well. You are not a guard, and brother Elliott needs you to play big in the paint. 2) Need a 6'5" 240 lb. Barkley type player who makes a living in the paint. Well so do a majority of the teams in KY need one like this!! 3) They are in great shape, but have no depth and if they get tired or are in foul trouble that presents big problems. Sweet Sixteen draw and getting to play on Wednesday may be a factor in their run?? 4) They must shoot in the mid 40% or better to get into the press and control tempo and get the game in the 80 point range or better. This played out against Cov Catholic where they shot only 37% for the game. If Elliott only scores in the 60s than the game is probably a close game and all bets are off. That being said I am a 100% fan of this exciting team and like I said they give hope to the little guy and all the small schools in KY. GO LIONS and prove the critics wrong!!! You can do it. The Carr Creeks, Sharpsville's, and Wayland's from the past are rooting for you!!!
  8. What do folks think?? Based on the brackets in the All A State here are my semi-final picks for Saturday Feb. 2d. 1st game at 3:00 UHA vs. Shelby Valley 2d game at 4:30 Elliott County vs. June Buchanan Shelby Valley and June Buchanan seem to have the 5-6 point upper hand on Paintsville and Hazard in their regions. Can Rose Hill give Elliott County a close game in the 16th Region All A?? By close I mean 10 points or so. Comparing scores against teams they both have played it looks like Elliott should win by 30 points?? GO LIONS--I live in Garrard County and I'm talking about the Elliott Lions and not the Garrard County Lions.
  9. Elliott County is playing who they are suppose to play. They are not an inner city school with 1,500 enrollment. They are a 16th Region school with 318 students. They have to play the Carters and Morgan County twice because that is their district. I have seen them play numerous times and they can play with anyone. They push it constantly, they all can run and shoot, they press you soon as you get off the bus, and they have played hundreds of games together. I think we have the possibility (stress may) of a modern day Hoosiers 1953/54 Milan High School in the making. Remember as Juniors Plump, Kraft, and company reached the semis and then won it all as Seniors. They had 180 in HS and beat Muncie Central who had 1,800 in the finals. The twins, Chris Knipp and Ferguson are juniors. There are some striking parallels. I am 120 miles from Elliott, but they give all dreamers and small schools a glimmer of hope!!! I say GO LIONS!!! I hope they are playing on Saturday in Rupp. Every neutral fan in Rupp will jump on their bandwagon and tiny Elliott with 6,000 residents will have 10,000 screaming fans!!!
