  1. Very classy move by the local district and Class "A" schools to sit behind Gallatin's bench and root for Holmes. Are you sure you want to give these boys any added motivation?

I was sitting a few bleachers above these players, and I never saw the players cheer for either team, although I absolutely saw the mom of a player cheer for Holmes. I actually heard her son tell her to be quiet a couple of times.

  2. IMO: Slavey and Ponzer are the better pair compared to Jones and Ponzer.

Layne is better than Kirk and again, Walton doesn't have anybody to guard Maegley. Again, this is just my opinion.

IMHO, Jones and Ponzer are better than Slavey and Ponzer. Layne is better than Kirk, and Walton doesn't have anyone to guard Maegley, although if they run the floor, he might still be on the other end. Just my opinion.

  3. Kirk played very well. Too many turnovers from guard play. Thought J. Ponzer played well and could have helped if more minutes. Very impressed with Jordan. Surprised with P. Ponzer play last night, but expect him to bounce back. Thought Reynolds could have helped with the rebounding. All in all, I still think Walton can play with Boone, just didn't show up last night, although Kirk definitely did show up. Good job! Very impressed with the sophmore bunch.

  4. As an oldtimer, I also remember alot of competive people from Walton, going all the way back to Johnny Anderson and Burns. Not saying Walton has never seen it. I just think that the attitude Martin and Ponzer bring to the table is good and I call it heart and a desire to win. Since some people see things differently, we'll have to agree to disagree. I just hope the kids don't read these sights and let the negative vibes people put out there about their teammates infect the team. I think they are playing great right now. As for moaning to officials, I haven't seen any of the kids get out of line with that.

  5. Just a thought about the "attitude" some people seem to think Martin and Ponzer are putting out there. I believe it is good for the team, and it is what I would call "heart". Personally, it is refreshing and alot better than the horse hockey I've been watching for the last couple of years from Walton. Maybe being fired up is something you all should get used to. Maybe you all aren't used to seeing competitve people on Walton's floor. I personally think it is a refreshing change, and hope to see Martin and Ponzer's "attitude" infect the whole team.

  6. Jones was on fire last night. He really stepped up last night and led the team as did Kirk. Saturday, Martin and Ponzer led the team. It is really good to have a team where if someone is having an off night, someone else can be relied on to take over. Not sure which guys you are referring to about making the team look bad. I haven't seen any of that. I'm just an oldtimer who loves to watch a good game, and so far that's all I've seen out of Walton this year. I guess I'm watching something different than Time and Score, and Jeanie.

  7. Hate on Kirk? Definitely do not hate on Kirk. Good kid to have on your team. Just thought took to many shots when they werent going in for him. Get it in the hot hands. I think Martin and Ponzer kept the game close with their stellar defense and both 17 and 15 points respectively. If they hadnt fouled out, outcome might have been different. In any event, I like the way Walton plays as a team. When one person isnt hitting, usually someone else is. Looks good for Walton this year.

  8. Did anyone else think the elbow to Walton's player should have been a flagrant foul. What would it take to get a flagrant foul. A shot to the nose after the play, is definitely a flagrant foul. Was totally surprised by the lack of a call on this one. Tough kid to be able to come into the game and play the rest of the game. Blood was everywhere.

  9. Martin had a good game for Walton. Ponzer is integral for the teams sucess. Jones also had good game. Kirk threw up about 30 shots with only 3 going in, so I'm not so sure why Jeanie says kirk made big baskets late in the game. Sullivan made some big baskets when needed. I'd say Walton will be just fine. Kirk needs some work on his defense. It helps Walton for Palmer to play the defensive end of the floor for Kirk. Good team effort for Walton, but Ponzer cannot foul out. Think they need his defense, and they run the offense better when he is in.
