  1. I think you need to look at defense for these players also. I saw some not so good defense from a few of the players on the NCKC list. Since that is 1/2 of the game it must be considered on any rating.

You may not be the high scorer but if you are keeping the top girls on each team from putting up any points in a game then your contribution is greater.

There are some pretty good defenders on that list. Wilhoit and Curry will flat put the clamps on ya. Especially considering they both are a little undersized for their position. Hill and Devine (as a guard) are both good shot blockers:thumb:

  2. Not sure if high school made the change or not but in college the point of emphasis was changed and anytime a player puts two hands on an opponent it is considered a foul. With that said I have already noticed in the college game that the officials are not calling that as much as they did in the beginning of the season.

  3. There is no doubt, the 8th Region is loaded with "young" talent. How would you like to have a team that consisted of: Gayhart at the point (9th), Devine at the two guard (9th), with Sandlin (8th) & Wilhoit (10th) playing the three, four, with Hill (10th) at the five. I would pay good money to see that team play together. All those kids have the potential to play at the next level, if that is their hearts desire. "THOSE FIVE ARE AMAZING TO WATCH" especially Sandlin who is only 12 years old, what a future for the 8th region.

This would be a fun game to watch. These teams put together by proximity:

Dixon at the 5, Sandlin at the 4, Wilhoit at the 3, West at the 2 and Ginn at the point. Versus Hill at the 5, Curry at the 4, Mitchell at the 3, Devine at the 2 and Gayheart at the point. :ylsuper:

  4. So, help me define press then, and for the record I could care less what defense was played for how long with any score, but I have to ask,,,,,what the heck do you consider a press then? Does it have to be zone, not man? Is there no such thing as full court man press? Does it have to include jump traps? Just want to be clear so I can identify in the future if I'm down 30 and my kids are being "guarded" the full length of the floor if I should run our press break or our full court man offense.

No dog in this fight but to me a press is anytime the team on defense picks up the offensive team in the back court. Zone or Man, Token pressure or intense pressure.:deadhorse:

  5. NCC has 10 days off between the regionals and state but they do have a couple games thrown in there. I like this because they have time to get ready for this tourny but at the same time are still staying in game shape.

That's the way I would want it too. IMO I would prefer a game on Monday night or at least Saturday before the Tourney if my regional was last weekend. Going straight from the regional to the tourney is okay when you finish the regional this weekend.

  6. If I were a coach, I would want a week. This way, you show the girls the tapes of the tournament and get a chance to work on what you need to work on to get into the next couple of games.

Some coaches schedule that way on purpose to get a good week of practice in. Just my opinon

I would think a week would be the most. I wouldn't mind a game or two thrown in there to bring the team back down to earth and guard against them coming out flat in the first tourney game.

To me 10 days is way to long to go without a game.

  7. After winning your All A regional tournament. How much time do you want between the regional championship and your first game?

Some regions finished their tournament last weekend and some finish this weekend.

Looking at the different schedules some teams will sit 10 days before playing anyone.

  8. That would be correct. When Gallatin fouled, Carroll was not in the act of shooting and Gallatin was.

I still find it hard to believe that Gallatin only fouled one time when Carroll was in the act of shooting. Especially with all the point blank shots Carroll took. When I watched the game (Thanks for putting that up Buttels) it looked like when Carroll had a 12 point lead the officials allowed a lot of bumping and banging out on the perimeter and that helped Gallatin to get back into the game.

My hat is off to the Gallatin players and coaches for taking advantage of the situation.

Good luck in Richmond! I suspect Gallatin will play Whitefield Academy. Should be a first round win.
