Williamstown scored 34 points from the free throw line and 22 from the field. Carroll scored 23 from the free throw line most of those coming in the 4th quarter when W-town was trying to fight back from 12 points down. Carroll won the rebounding battle 33 to 27.
Carroll showed a lot of poise to win this game with their leading scorer out. They did it with balanced scoring and tough team defense.

When was the last time WV won the NCKC?

Walton Verona has proven to be a very solid team. Coach Miller should be strongly considered for Coach of the Year in the 8th region. First time in recent memory that an "A" school is a legitimate contender to win the region. Coach Miller has done a great job developing multiple scoring options and a solid defense. Teams can't focus their defense on one player.

Sorry to hear about her injury here's to a speedy recovery.

Why GatorFan, did someone say something to you?
Sorry couldn't resist

I didn't see all the games, but points are not all that one must look at to determine an MVP. One must look at rebounds, defense, steals, assists, turnovers, blocks - the total game. Too many times fans only look at points to evaluate who a "good" player is. There is obviously more to being an all around good player than just scoring points.

WV had Owen back on their heals and could have put the hammer down but elected to pull the ball out and burn some clock early in the 4th quarter. One possession they ran more than 2 mins off the clock. Owen banked in a 3 at the buzzer to cut the lead to 10.
I agree with FarBeyondDriven their coach is top shelf and his team plays smart and with great effort every possession.

Its going to be painful when the Demons go back and look at this tape. I counted 5 or 6 missed uncontested layups. I thought they should be up by 15 at half time.

They play tonight at Gallatin County in the second round of the 8th region All A tournament.

Just off the top of my head I would mention these girls in no particular order:
Divine (Carroll), Hill (Gallatin), Wells (Shelby), Neeley (Owen), Gayheart (Owen), Curry(Carroll), Dixon(WV). There is a player from Oldham but I don't remember her name or #.
This list represents girls I have seen play this year only.

Congrats to Coach Mefford and his team. Carroll County played exceptional defense and shot a high percentage in the second half.
Carroll did a good job of denying the pass into the post and stopped the pick and roll GC likes to run from the elbow down. CC's defense has really picked up the last three games.
GC did a good job of limiting CC's second chance points especially early in the game, at one point the score had GC up 11-2 early in the second quarter.
GC has a big district game coming up against Henry.

Nice win for Gallatin.

Great Kid! Great Accomplishment! :thumb:

I would give the edge to Anderson by 7.
-
If they call it tight I give the edge CC by 4

may a good year for the districts to be at Gallatin, at least for Gallatin's sake.
I kind a like traveling for districts. It is such a distraction for the coach and players to have to organize everything. Plus I think there is more pressure on the home team. What is interesting is, Owen beat Carroll on the road, Gallatin beat Owen on the road, Henry beat Gallatin on the road and Carroll beat Henry on the road. So far teams aren't fairing well at home. I'm just saying.

Good to see senior Sarah Osborne playing well. She has put in a lot of hard work along with the rest of her teammates.

Did GC press at all or just put a chaser on Gayheart?

congrats to the lady wildcats. they needed this win. Should help build confidence. will be a good game on Saturday.
Carroll has a big game tomorrow against a much improved Henry, they better not be looking ahead to Saturday

I felt the much more experienced guards of SK took over the game late. Once we picked up the pressure, the WV guards just could not handle it. I also thought by doing this, it completely took one of the best players in the region (Dixon WV) out of the game. Good job coach Stowers on making adjustments at half time to turn the game around. Great Job SK. :ylsuper:
I believe pressuring the WV guards is the key to beating them. Both in the half court and full court.

Good job Walton. Does anyone know if they plan to play Grant tonight?
