  1. I honestly believe that if Newcath plays a full 4 quarters with minimal mistakes and zero turnovers this can be a two score win. But realistically speaking, Newcath will have at least two turnovers and a few miscues, especially on offense. With those mistakes, this will be a much tighter game. And if FC can take advantage and also play a low mistake game, they may be able to win by two scores.

I think this will be one of the best games of the 6 championships being played this weekend. It will come down to whomever ends up in the + side of the turnover column. I do think the Breds are the better team; and theoretically, if both teams were to play a perfect game, the Breds would come out on top. But (and thats a huge BUT) how often does that actually happen?! Never.

Good luck Breds, smart football wins this one

  2. Do you really think that is the case? I believe that most coaches work hard and I believe in 1999 when NCC went 4-8 he worked just as hard. There maybe some people who try to cut corners but I don't believe they last very long.

A coach is successful not only by winning State championships but when they turn out outstanding young men. Something I think Bob Schneider, Dale Mueller and many other coaches we have here in NKY do. I thank all those who Coach our young men. I know how my Football coaches helped mold my life, and Winning a State title is an awesome thing to do but there is more to being a good coach than putting trophies in the cases. NKY coaches do a great job in my opinion.

part of the reason Coach Schneider had little success in the late 90's was because he kick some of his best player off the team due to bad off the field desitions. that says a lot about his morals to take those kids off the team knowing the team was going to struggle with out them.

also i would never ever put Schneider and Mueller in the same category, i seriously doubt Dale Mueller's ethics are anywhere near Schneider's

  3. Mex, great point about NCC's asst coaches. I don't mean to be disrespectful to Bob Schneider, but there was a period of time that I was beginning to wonder if the game had passed him by. If nothing else the turning over of the O and D to these two great asst. coaches proves that Bob knows enough about football to recognize great asst coaches and to let them do their thing. A very successful business client once told me that he's not very smart, but he's smart enough to recognize very smart key employees, smart enough to hire them and pay them very well so they stay, and smart enough to stay the heck out of their way and let them do their jobs. Seems like Bob is smart enough to have done the same thing at NCC. Good luck this weekend.

I agree with you about Coach Schneider giving up some of the responsibilities during a game, but I think he gets a bad rep. I hear a lot of people talk about how Coach S doesn't do anyhting anymore except add to his win total. I just can't believe that to be true, i bet if people actually say how that team was ran Bob still has a lot of say on what happens with his teams. but like you said he has evolved enough to notice what works now and that says a lot.

not saying that you, leatherneck, were accusing Bob of just being a figure head and not having reponsibility anymore, but I've heard it a lot since he gave up some jobs to his assistants

  4. It is the same problem Vickers had for awhile at the beginning of last year. When you spread the field and do not have any lead blockers it is hard for 5 offensive lineman to block 7 or more defenders. The wideouts do block well but if you can't get beyond the line it doesn't matter. It is part of the price for using so many wideouts and running out of the shotgun with no fullback and no tight end.

Last year after the terrible effort on offense against Holy Cross, NCC finally decided to run the ball out of a running formation against Bellevue and Vickers had something silly like 219 yards on 9 carries.

Plus NCC is committed to not playing people two ways for the most part. I think they could pound the ball if they wanted to by having DL Keating and Wedding go both ways and play OL.

I couldn't agree more. I'd like to see them use a little more I formations, it would open up their offence that much more and make them even more potent

  5. Can Any NCC fans on here that can tell me where Frank Jacobs and Nick Sandfoss are, they played on the NCC team that came to Corbin in 86 and beat them. From what i remember Frank Jacobs was a man among boys and Nick Sandfoss had speed to burn. Do any of the 07 NCC players have speed comparable to Sandfoss. I'm looking forward to the trip north and hope that the game will be as good as advertised. GO Hounds!!!!!

They are both still around. At least i know Jacobs is. After NCC Jacobs played at Notre Dame under Loue Holtz (and he's still looks like a man among boys even with adults) and I don't believe Sandfoss played college ball. They both have relatives go through Newcath like the Kiernan brothers who are cousins of Jacobs I think, I know they are related somehow.
