  1. This is going to be a good one, FT. Cambpell is the favorite and should be they are the Champs until someone knocks them off, NewCath is a better all around team than they were a year ago, much better team speed and I am sure they feel as if there is some unfinished business from last years game. Both teams will be prepared and I think this one will be won up front.

  2. It wouldn't matter who was healthy NewCath was the better team and would have won by 2 touchdowns either way. Mark Kelly was the best player on the field Friday and still would have been if everyone was healthy, he beat yoiu last year and did it again this year just be glad he is graduating but keep in mind the Kelly who score the 2nd touchdown is his younger brother who is a sophomore who is very, very good. I don't mean to sound frustrated but campbellfield seems to just make excuses, you have a very good program with players who play hard with a lot of heart and i commend them for it and I wish your team the best of luck.

  3. I realize the game was tied at half but it could have easily been 14-0 at half. As the game went on you could clearly see that NCC was moving the ball and was in command, I think they were winning the battle in all parts of the game. If I cold offer some friendly advice to the Redhounds which is play better competition during the regular season whether you win or lose it will pay off in the playoffs. NCC was battle tested and played some very good teams and were put in every situation possible there could be. I wish the Redhounds the best of look you have a very good team keep up the good work.

  4. I too watched the game on tape and did not see his knee touch. Kelly ran for over a 100 yards so the line controled the game. As for Watckins I still think the results would have been the same, NCC was in there back field all night and I not sure he would hae even goe started, NCC is a very physical team and Corbin could not have beaten them regardless of the situations.

  5. I don't agree with Quainoo as first team, I am not taking anything away from him but I would take Kelly, if you look at the stats the Quainoo kid has carried the ball at least a hundred more times that Kelly, I would like to see if Kelly got the ball as much as he did what kind of stats he would put up. I think the Quainoo kid is a very good back but I would not take him ove Kelly, just my opinion.

  6. NCC defense was all over, Corbin couldn't get much going and the front line on both sides of the ball was dominated by NCC. Mark Kelly is the difference maker he runs hard and has very good speed, the tackles he breaks are awsome. What I could not understand and I know Corbin scouted them is when they punted why did they punt it right to Kelly he is a great special teams player.

  7. Clearly you could tell that NCC was in command from the start of the game, I give a lot of credit to #42 for gutting it out that was very couragious. I believe if he was healthy the outcome would not have been any different, NCC was the better team by far. Keep in mind that NCC has a lot of there players going both ways as well, Kelly brothers, Parr, Smith, just to name a few.

The schedule NCC played this year paid off, if Corbin plays the same schedule they would have lost about 4-5 games in my opinion, don't get me wrong I think they had a good team and played hard. I don't know a lot about the teams Corbin played but I would have to say they did not play a more physical than they did Friday night.

  8. This has been discussed many times on the public/private forum. In a nutshell, I just believe all teams should be on an even field, and right now they are not. It's not your fault or the kids from NCC. I have no problem at all with any of the kids from NCC or any private school student. It's just ashame that the KHSAA permits what goes on. I don't want to get into a public/private debate right now, so this is the last I'll comment on this.

Bottom line, privates try to get some of our better players with no penalty. If we try to encourage a kid outside our district to attend Corbin....we're in trouble.

Before you say Corbin is independent......we are, but it just doesn't work the same. Laurel Co. will allow students to attend Corbin but not student/athletes. And they do have to pay tuition if attending out of district.

Well I can assure you that student/athletes from Newcath are not encouraged to go there, they attend NCC because they choose to be there and want to be there not because some coach promised them something or they are receiving some kind if "scholarship" or "grant" to help pay their way

  9. Yes, he is. He has improved more b/n his Jr to Sr year than any player I've had the opportunity to watch at NewCath. I've seen so-so players become good players, but I've never truly seen a good back turn into a dominant one like this. The only thing that I can like it to is the change that Eddie Eviston had b/n after his JR season when he just dominated as a Senior, but even that is off b/c Mark had a much bigger impact as a junior than Eddie did. He is a very hard runner and has found an extra gear making for a lot of long runs.

I don't know if Mark Kelly got that much better rather than his o-line doing a much better job. I think he ran almost as good last yr as he does this yr but if you remember right he was getting hit in the backfield alot last yr, as soon as he got the ball most of the time, and usually broke that tackle and got some kind of gain, but this yr the o-line is letting him get started and i think teams are now having trouble stopping him when he has a hole to run threw!
