Then again Bob Boone was a bust. Not all catchers make good managers.
-
Yep. I'm trying to look for what Ausmus has been doing but this stupid job is interfering. Where is he now? Still Padres?
More than Matheney had been doing.
-
Why do you need someone to be on your tail constantly when you are a pro making millions of dollars? If you need that type of push maybe you should be let go instead of the manager. Then they need a new gig. You're a professional making more money than the manager. It's your job!
And obviously they need pushed to do their jobs. If they didn't, Dusty would still be manager.
-
And what position did they play?
Pretty sure Ausmus was a catcher.

@JeffPassan: Word filtered around last night that Dusty Baker was out. Players heard early, and while they like Dusty, they think it was the right move.
Wow, is all I can say to that...
Zero accountability. I wouldn't to manage that team.Spineless...I agree. It just shocked me that the players, who Dusty went to war for (whether you liked him or not, he always had his guys back), would be cool with the move.Right. Sometimes to a fault.Perhaps the players realize they need somebody like a Lou Piniella that is going to be on their tails constantly to achieve their goals as a team.

I have to go with what MentschTrachtGottLacht says. He was certainly right on Baker.
-
Maybe they were celebrating TLR's 69th birthday which is today.
Are you saying you think he's too old to manage?
-
Why do people keep mentioning Sandberg? Do they think he is just going to give up his Phillies job he just got?
-
Williams is either hitting coach or bench coach for the Dbacks....He's a no-nonsense kinda guy (have heard him compared to Mattingly a lot)' date=' who is considered a riser in the managerial ranks. On the short list for the Nationals job.[/quote']
He is neither. He is just their 3rd base coach. Don Baylor is hitting coach, and Alan Trammel is bench coach.

If I was Raceland I'd dare them to throw it.

I'm starting to feel sorry for those that believe statistics are the only way to determine value. You can't equate things like momentum shifts with a calculator. Some errors are more important than others. Some great plays are more important than others. Some stolen bases are huge for momentum shifts...and so on.
It's still a game being played by human beings. When robots play and everyone is equal physically, mentally and emotionally then stat away.
It's similar to hitting. It's not rotational, it's not linear...it's both.
And yes, I take some statistics pretty seriously. The only thing that truly matters offensively is Quality At-Bats. 50% or more Quality AB's and you're a pretty good hitter.
Just my opinion.
Oh how I do love your "70's" approach.

This clubhouse is dead anyway. Maybe this is what they need to stir them up.

As I have come to learn in this life - Things always change for the worse - never the better.
Having the one and only state basketball trophy being the same size as the Class A classified track trophy is ludicrous.
Not having a program for cost reasons is a cop out. Programs are a nice added touch, adding to the overall class and flavor of the event. I found the old adage that "you can't tell the players without a program" to be very true at this year's state tournament.
Incidentally, the tournament moved from Memorial Coliseum to Freedom Hall in Louisville and not Rupp. It was played for years in Louisville, where the business community did fan friendly things like "fair-trading" hotel/motel room rates, before moving to Rupp. While I'm not advocating moving the event back to Louisville, the Derby City was much more fan-friendly than Lexington.
Are you upset your guys didn't make it? I've never seen anyone whose cheerios were more peed in. Man, you need a vacation.

Where's theoldguy anyway?

That's about what I expected. MadCen is a top team in the state. CovCath fans think their team is a top team in the state like most NKY teams until they get out into the state and see. This loss will help CovCath in the post season.

Nice win on the road for Cooper. That's a spanking.

I would say that the 9th is a much better basketball region, than either the 6th or 11th is in football.
Which means what exactly? And I bet it's a draw in soccer. Relevant.

:cry:I don't know about lock down, but they do a good job knocking you down. #45 was grabbing ankles and pulling jerseys all night. -
Congratulations to one of the most steady players I've had the privilege to watch play.

If he becomes a consistent outside shooter, look out. Can't guard him.
He's very fluid, if that's the right word to describe him.

I'm going to do my very best to make the Trinity vs. Montgomery game. Is Hicks going to play in this one?

I think the Steward kid from Fleming is a better prospect than Burns. That's no slight to Burns either.
-
According to their maxpreps site, Withrow is pretty good. This is likely a good showing for Covington Catholic. Still some very thin skin in this thread. I think CovCath is a serious contender in this region. Well coached and tough.

I have a feeling that the very geography of this site lends itself to readers/posters overrating NKY's talent level. Like it or not, most posters on here (whether they will admit it or not) don't have a clue about football in Lex or Lou or Cincy other than what they read on this site. C-Boy78 is absolutely correct. Let's face it, while the brand of football is very good here in NKY, it's not really as significant as we like to think it is and build it up to be on the heavily NKY biased site.

Don't see how they botched the execution. The inmate is dead.
