  1. I can't comment on all the names listed above, but I do know that Kyle Bair started elementary school in the Carter Co. system and was there for several years. He was then "plucked" away early on through the recruiting tool known as AAU basketball. It was always stated that he had all intentions of attending high school at East Carter where his uncle is somewhat of a legend if you will in the local sports scene. Congratulations are in order though, I had no idea that Rose Hill lays claim to a former CY Young winner. That is impressive!

I'm sure you are correct in your post. I just get so tired of the complaining done by everyone on this board about Rose Hill. I myself don't care one way or the other but the way I see it they have done nothing wrong.

I don't know the Bair kid just saw him play as a grade schooler at Rose Hill.

Take a look around the area and you will find more athletes than you can imagine that have changed school systems during their lifetime. The list would gone on for a while. Just trust me that it isn't exclusive to Rose Hill.

But why limit it to kids look at the coaches who have moved from one school to another.

  2. I dont think any of the area coaches have a resume that matches Roger Zornes.

Hard to argue with that. Makes you wonder why so many BC faithful were glad to see him go a few years ago. It is tough to keep people happy for an exteded period of time, not matter how good you are.

In the internet age their jobs are getting harder and harder.

  3. Once again...what is your point...I stated at least 5 of the top 10 did not attend Elem School there and you just proved that point. BTW, you have 4 listed but one did attend PreSchool there but spent Elem School days at Boyd County. So that makes 5 and that makes me correct:thumb:

BTW, also noticed another kid or 2 that will make an impact was not listed..why?...OH wait they just transferred this year..sorry.:sssh:

Once again...dont make a big deal about this...we all know the truth and nothing can change that. Great kids on that list with great parents.:thumb:

Your knowledge of Rose Hill is much better than mine. I listed the 10 kids that I saw play the most this summer so I don't know the other 2 you are referring to. If they just transferred this year then I am not aware of that, my mistake. Please let me know who the transfers are, if you wish just PM me.

I wonder if the Daily Independent plans on referring to last years Cy Young Award winner as "Rose Hill's own Brandon Webb" anytime soon.

  4. Hard to get a true rating of the coaches with all the new coaches in the region.

    Scott Floyd- Raceland

    Jim Hicks- Bath Co.

    Menifee Co. ??

    Chad Leach-Greenup Co.

Roger Zornes (part 2 )-Boyd Co.

All these coaching changes kind of skew the ratings.

Biggs, Dodd, Mays, Daniel, Perry, Maybe we start with this list?

Leach obviously has a great resume' but you can assure yourself that if he isn't winning in January people in Lloyd will be on his back.

  5. Some may want to revisit the Rules here, so let's keep it on the right path....:thumb:

My apologies, please excuse my rookie mistake. Please allow me to rephrase in a more delicate manner.

Good players make good coaches. Bad players make bad coaches. Take a look at local coaches for example. Mayes was not considered one of the top coaches in the area until he had an exceptional bunch of kids. Dodd was catching serious heat in Russell, even though he is in the NAIA Hall of Fame, until Vanhoose, Blair, and Robinson fell into his lap. Cooksey is considered a wizard in Westwood but was not well liked in Greenup because he could will the Kentucky Derby with plow horses.

And Ashland always thinks their coach is the best until he doesn't match Paul Patterson's accomplishments. Which is unfair, ask Mike Flynn.

  6.

Tell me your top 10 players and I can probably tell you where they went to Elem School at...And I know at least 5 that did not attend there.

I may need some help on this one but Rose Hill's top players would be:

    Johnny Bush (4th grade)

    Scott Gambil (pre school)

Nate Quackenbush (? I believe he was home schooled before coming to RHCS)

    Mike Davis (pre school)

Alex Malloy (7th grade attended another private school prior to RHCS)

Chad Jackson (7th Grade Moved to Boyd Co. from Lexington)

    Dakotah Euton (4th Grade)

    Tony Arthur (pre school)

Michael Fuller (9th grade transfer from Russell)

    Robbie Barber (4th grade?)

On the other hand if Rose Hill grades school products like Jacob Sparks (Raceland), Tyler Cooksey (Russell), Logan Watts (Raceland), KC Nichols (Raceland), Kyle Bair (East Carter) etc hadn't been plucked out of the Rose Hill system then maybe Rose Hill would score 100% on your home grown o meter. Of course last year, Rose Hill products Drew McDavid (Ashland) and Austin Blair (Russell) made a pretty big impact at other area schools as well. By my count that makes the score Tax Payer Funded Schools 7, Parent Funded School 1.

If where you attended grade school is the barometer then Rose Hill is making at least a partial claim on Brandon Webb.
