Hazard scores. Tyler Olinger to Josh Kidd. Twenty yard pass. Drive started on the 7 yard line. Extra point is good. Hazard 7, Cumberland 6 still in the first quarter.

Cumberland receives the ball and marches 48 yards in 7 plays. Lance Simmons puts the Skins up 6-0 on a 4 yard TD run. The extra point was wide left.

Hazard comes to town for a BIG district match up with the Skins. Hazard will be favored in this game but anything can happen in district play. My heart says Skins....but my head says Bulldogs. Hazard in a close one 28-21.

Harold Shrout Memorial Stadium should be rocking next week. The Skins will have to play their best game of the year VS the Bulldogs. Hopefully the cannons will be going off quite a bit and the defense will step up.

It was good to see Josh Johnson score. I think a lot of that young man. Harlan is having a tough time. JB won't let his kids give up. That's why he is one of the best coaches in the mountains. And this from a Skins fan....lol....

Hazard must be the real deal. Big District game at Cumberland next week.

The fact of the matter that these two schools, like them or not, will be coming to an end of a rivalry. Although it might not be as strong as Evarts or Cawood it is still a rivalry. I remember the game when JB Donahue was the QB and Cumberland beat them 7-0 at Harlan on a touchdown late in the game. If I recall correctly that Harlan team was rated #1 in the state.... Football in the county will NEVER be the same....EVER....

In what will probably be the last time that these two teams play, the Skins travel to Harlan to take on the Green Dragons. This one will be a slobber nocker as it always is and I see the Skins coming away with a 40-14 win. Cumberland's physicalness (this is a word isn't it???) along with the speed of Nathaniel Gilliam and Lance Simmons will be the difference. It's a shame that this may be the last time these two teams go at one another. I think it's safe to say that both teams don't like each other....but, there is respect....A lot of close games over the years.
