I feel the score will be a lot closer than the http://www.maxpreps.com site predicts. I get worried when I login and look at the prediction. This site has been pretty accurate on a couple of games. Fairdale and CAL come to mind. They had the CAL score being 24-17, the final was 24-14 I believe. They were wrong on the Prestonsburg score, having the Blackcats picked to win. The courier-journal only had DeSales picked to win by 1 point, 21-20. Some confidence the local paper has in it's team, huh. Well, we will see, that is why they call it a ballgame. No matter who wins, I feel the score will be closer than predicted. I am surprised more fans on this site are not heading out to see the DeSales-NCC game at the legendary old Manuel Stadium.

NCC is at DeSales

Absolutely, have to find someone to work for me so I can go watch DeSales play another game in their quest to Papa Johns Stadium.
Found someone to work for me Friday night. I will be leaving work at 6:00 to make it to the game in time for kickoff. Hope to see everyone there.

Maybe the first playoff game should be the two teams that finished top in their respective districts, or the top two teams play the other top two teams of another district. How that is determined I do not know, but the first two games for a team being teams in their district does not seem right.
-
Maybe it won't be an upset, but DeSales certainly is the underdog in this match-up.
-
All teams benefited. I feel for those who had to travel so far this year.
-
What will have to happen to beat the number one team. This could be the upset of the playoffs if to happen. The Colts are ready. What do you guys think?
-
What can be suggested for DeSales in order to come up with a major upset. For those who know this team. I do not know much about this team except they must be good to beat Corbin. DeSales beat Corbin in 05 in like a triple overtime I believe.

I am sure it does drive the coaching staff crazy. You can not be lazy in the classroom. Goes hand in hand.
-
Kudos to you guys for having the proper priorities.
Though I'm sure it drives the coaching staff crazy, it's refreshing to hear of a school putting action (vs. lip service) to "academics before athletics".

Few injuries this season, other than the early season hamstring pulls and shoulders. Nothing season ending. I am referring to several players throughout the season not being eligible due to academic reasons. The worst being against Waggener, when 13 players were academically ineligible. It seems that there have been players ineligible throughout the season for that reason. As far as I know, everyone is okay in that department this week. Can not be sure though, as grades come out today. Every player was eligible for the Prestonsburg game, but not for the CAL game. If the status stay as last week, things look good for Friday.

Going to be there?
Absolutely, have to find someone to work for me so I can go watch DeSales play another game in their quest to Papa Johns Stadium.

So, do any DeSales fans tailgate? the wife and I will most likely be making this trip down.
There should be some tailgating in the lot behind the stadium.
-
All the Colts are healthy and most of all Eligible to play. That has not been the case for all of the season. Regardless of outcome, this will be a game to see Friday at Manuel Stadium. Even though it will be overshadowed by St. X and Trinity. A lot of people feel that the 2A championship game has already been played last week. You have to give DeSales credit, they deserve to be where they are in the playoffs.

I know the schedule was posted already, but please define the "quality teams"?
Certainly any number of teams could have scored over 40. Fairdale scored 33 I believe. I just don't see NCC scoring in the 40's, yes, I know they are #1 in 2A and we have not played anyone as well rounded. If the quarterback does better in the passing game than he has in the previous two games it could happen. DeSales can not miss scoring opportunities as in the Prestonsburg game. They are capable of playing better and can not fumble the ball inside the 20 yard line. I do not think NCC will come down I-71 over confident, as no championship team should take an opponent lightly.
-
NCC's QB has shown no ability to throw the past 2 weeks. (5 or 6 INT's in 2 weeks, and 4 of them weren't even close)
That being said, he is a phenomonal runner!
He sounds like a quarterback very similar to that of Fairdale's.
-
Newport Catholic 28-0.
I will be surprised if NCC shut out DeSales.
-
Newport Central Catholic 38 - DeSales 14
Explain why you feel NCC will score 38 points on DeSales. DeSales has held their opponents to below 30 points against quality teams. DeSales has been able to stop the run as the games have progressed against recent opponents. I think the DeSales kids are well conditioned to play hard for the entire 4 quarters. Unless this team has several capable receivers and a quarterback that can both run and throw. Fairdale was capable of doing this in the second half and scored relentlessly. I think DeSales has since adjusted since, however, when a team mixes it up on a team that lacks speed it makes it hard to come up with a W.

There is directions on the DeSales website when you click on the athletics tab to football.

Three games this Friday here in Louisville. There should be a nice size crowd to come out and see one of the other Catholic schools play. DeSales and NCC will be a game to see and good exposure for both teams.
-
One of 3 games played here in Louisville. The others 2 being Trinity and DeSales.

Can someone from Desales provide directions to the stadium. What is the stadium like. Grass, turf, seating.
Someone posted already. They were to exit Poplar Level passing St. X. Turn left on Eastern PKWY. The stadium will be on Burnett to the right off Eastern PKWY. It is a historic stadium with plenty of seating. The announcing is easily heard and field is in good shape.
-
Did the Prestonsburg receivers have that much speed to be wide open like that. What has Desales done to get this far in the playoffs, they must be doing something right. What do they do well on offense and defense. What do they need to improve on
I do not think Prestonsburg had that much speed. I think DeSalses has gotten drawn in or were not covering deep. I am by no means capable of analyzing coverage. I just know this has been a weakness all season long in our secondary. I do not feel that it has necessarily been speed that has beat us every time. DeSales has been doing a lot right, and it seems each and every game they do more right. They were underdogs against Prestonsburg and were only picked to win by a one point spread by one sports writer. I feel they won this game in the second half by virtue of confidence. They have pure determination going into ballgames. They really feel as if they can win each game they go into and play hard, disciplined football. I know for a fact they feel as it they can beat NCC this Friday. They know who they are lining up against and what tactics they will use to execute their plays.
