  1. Congratulations to these boys. I know some of them and overall a good bunch. I do want to vent about the baseball process as a whole however, whether it be high school or MLB. It is getting more and more about who you know and how many camps and showcases you attend. This is self serving, but we have a player with real (not padded) numbers of batting average of .412, 43 RBI's, 16 doubles, and 3 home runs. His junior numbers last year were even a little better. Plays on a good team against some top level competition. Very athletic kid that is primarily a football guy and going to college to play football. But, doesn't spend a fortune going to showcases, playing travel ball, etc. because he concentrates on football in July. He doesn't even get honorable mention as a junior or senior??? I guarantee over half the kids on this year's list don't have his numbers, productivity and ability. So my question, is All State to recognize players for what they did and contributed during this season or has it turned into a recruiting tool to only be used for kids who intend to play college baseball versus another sport?
  2. First, congrats to the guys who made it. Taking nothing away from you. However, basically once WYMT got past the obvious Kash Daniel, Riley Hall, Nelson, etc., it appears that they just went to KHSAA stats and went down the list. That does not tell half they story. Several top players left off. Just from our own county Lucas Turpin from SW and Mason Helton from Pulaski. Both are two of the better colleges prospects in this area. Turpin tied the school record for sacks in a season and set the season and career record for TFL. Helton did a little bit of everything for Pulaski and they would not have been in the state finals without him.
  3. Lucas Turpin from Southwestern Pulaski 6'2", 235 lb defensive end Great senior year with 53 tackles, 22 tackles for loss, and 13 sacks
  4. Southwestern Pulaski has at least two guys that fit in this category. Lucas Turpin a 6'2" 230lb defensive end. Benches 335 and squats 475. Benched 185 for 27 reps at a Rivals combine last spring. Also, Austin Dalton a 6'4" 310 lb defensive tackle. Benches about 325 but can squat over 500. Both are very good at their positions and can play at the next level.
