  1. I don't think Murray's successes were necessarily due to their opponents failures or lack of talent. Indeed, Murray had a few other players that were talented and deserving but little was said about them. It had been known for a while that this would be Duncan's last year.
  2. Some players...yes. But not all. Some players blossom after high school and some wilt. Those players who are allowed to skate through high school football practices and games without the proper training and discipline may not make it mentally in college football no matter how big they grow. Seen it happen many times over. I agree that there are many deserving players that don't have D1offers that should be recognized with the honor as there are many undeserving and under-performing players with D1 offers who just had good PR men as coaches. My question was simply regarding this year' team.
  3. This is definitely true...but some coaches also push their favorites over the more deserving players on their team. How the players do in college (if they even will end up playing college ball) when they no longer have these HS coaches pushing them will be the tell tale. BTW...do all of the players on the first three teams have D1 offers? If not...shouldn't they? I know some in the honorable mention category do.
  4. Jacob Mayes MLB/TE Murray High School Air Force Academy Navy Florida Institute of Technology Centre College He also has been talking to Murray State, Western KY, Princeton, Harvard, Indiana State, SIU, Wofford and hearing from many D IIIs.
  5. It's a moot point now. While it is an honor to be nominated and selected, not being selected won't affect his offers or ability to play at the next level.
  6. I know one player from Murray WAS nominated. The LB, #19, Jacob Mayes. He has 186 tackles for the season so far (100 solos and 86 assists), 7 sacks, 13 TFL, 7 fumble recoveries, 6 deflections, 2 interceptions (one for TD), 7 pancakes, and 2 forced fumbles. He's had offers from Air Force and Florida Institute of Technology, hasn't yet committed, and is uninjured. If that's not good enough to be selected, so be it.
  7. No one south of Paducah qualified for the team? There are some pretty good players from Mayfield and Murray that were overlooked.
