  1. I hate to say it, but Coach Banks is getting everything he ask for. :fire: You cannot mistreat these boys and expect to get respect. I do feel sorry for the ball boys, but I know they are strong and they will bring everything out on top. GO BOBCATS!
  2. All I can say is that Breathitt Co. had talented boys, so why bother with outsiders!
  3. Breathitt plays South Laurel and Cornerstone next, but these teams are very weak teams. Breathitt should be able to beat these teams
  4. Well said, Flash. I am one of the supporters of this team - in fact, one of their biggest supporters, and I am aware that there is a problem. Those players that are no longer with the team didn't leave because they no longer wanted to play. Their hearts and souls are with basketball, and as you stated, most, if not all of them, have played organized sports from the time they could walk. It saddens me that anyone would think that the only reason a player leaves a team is because he or she doesn't want to play. I am proud of the Bobcats and the effort they are making while dealing with such an awkward situation, and I am certain the team is aware that their former teammates would not walk away without a good reason, IMO.
  5. Did anyone figure out what happened to Combs and the Fugate brothers?
  6. I would have to agree with you on the Haddix. They did do the right thing by putting Justin H. as point guard. But I still think they need to get back some of their strong players, such as Combs. He really plays aggressive and if I remember from last year before he got hurt, his had lots of rebounds.
  7. I apologize if it seemed I was suggesting that Buckhorn didn't have a good team. I've always been a huge fan of our Buckhorn team; I simply meant that the win was by a larger spread than would have been seen, had Breathitt not lost so many players.
  8. Coach Banks needs to get all of his players back! But from the talk around Perry Co. the boys don't like playing for Coach Banks!
  9. Yes, the Fugates have quit now. I suspect Wolfe County may stand a shot with this game, considering that Buckhorn beat Breathitt by a healthy score.
  10. Flash, thank you for responding. I had forgotten about Hollan quitting and then being convinced to return. As a matter of fact, didn't Colby Fugate quit this year before his first full week of his practice, only to be convinced to return to the team? Nonetheless, I must agree that the players who left indeed left the problems behind. I've read a lot of posts that point fingers at the parents. That's not to say that parents can't be a negative influence; we know they can, but in this case, with high caliber players just walking away, something is going on that the public eye can't witness. I'm not sure if it's the coach, the school administration, or a combination of things. One thing is definitely obvious - this team is falling fast, and I really hate to see it happen.
  11. It seems that Breathitt still has a number of talented players, many of whom will grow and develop their skills as the season progresses. Is it too late to hope for a team that will be a good contender during tournament time? Anything is possible. I would like to say that there are other former players that chose not to return to the team this year or quit early in the season, namely Ryan Allen and Aaron Combs. I hated that Allen chose not to come back to the team, as he was a key player that Coach Banks could put in the game at crucial times. As for Combs, I still don't understand why he wasn't starting, not to mention the small amount of playing time he was getting while on the team this year, especially with his level of talent and his position as a teammate who could also be used during critical periods of the game. Then when the Fugate brothers quit, I really raised an eyebrow, because they were both starters and were given respectable time on the hardwood. This suggested to me that something is going on within the team or within the administration that is impacting the team. Nonetheless, there is still a team to consider and support, so for those remaining players, especially seniors Smith and Hollan, stay tough, pull the team back together, and let's see what happens. I think you can make a comeback.
  12. Added response to Hamilton Joe - Parents, coaches and players can impact each other. There are many angles from which to approach a situation such as this and then form an opinion.
  13. Now this is a well-rounded, objective response to that so-called "hypothetical situation." Thank you for recognizing that a situation like this may involve the parent, player, coach and I'd even say other teammates.
  14. Did Ryan Allen quit the team? I also heard that Breathitt now has a big man from Owsley Co. Is that true?
