  1. 49th- Overall the weakiest district in the 13th Region. Clay is the dominant team in that district, you could shake up OBI,Jackson,Red Bird, and North Laurel they are all about equal. Clay and North will come out of that district 50th-The bottom two teams Whitley and Williamsburg are much more competitive this year, but should not be a match for South and Corbin. With South coming out of that district as the champion. 51st-Overall the most balenced, competitve district. Two veteran coaches, Phipps and Strange will square off in the opening round. With Pineville coming out on top. Knox beat Lynn Camp 52nd-Middlesboro and Bell County, with Bell County coming out of that district as champions Overall Rankings To Win The 13th 1.South Laurel 2.Corbin 3.Knox Central 4.Middlesboro 5.Clay County 6.Bell County 7.Pineville 8.North Laurel
  2. How can the defending champs that return three starters and one of the regions best jv teams be ranked second to Corbin, when they beat them three times last season? Middlesboro and North Laurel are both too high. On paper Middlesboro is as good as anyone, but when it comes down to it we all know what will bite them in the end. Besides Seidell and Wardrup who does North Laurel return that even had varsity playing time last year?
  3. Has the big boy at Bell improved any in the off season?
  4. 1.Crawford 2. Miller 3.St.John 4.Johnson 5.Strange 6.Seidell 7.Green 8.Zachary 9.Caldwell 10.Wilson Sleeper:Watkins
  5. Bill Jones is a TERRIBLE coach, so was Ed, they would have been better off to of kept Millett. I mean they had have had two years in the last eight seasons in which they made the regional tournament. Middlesboro has talent, just terrible coaching decisions and coaching hires. The All A means nothing, it is regional championships is what matters!
  6. South Laurel once again should be favorite to win the region. They return one of the states premier big men in Matt St. John, as well as one of the top swingmen in the region Zack Smith. They should battle with Corbin for the regions top spot.
  7. North should struggle this year. They lost their two major ball handlers and most experienced post player. Seidel is a top player in the region and can shoot from anywhere and be deadly. They return one other starter, pending on their schedule will be a .500 ball club.
  8. They have the top shooter in the region. Things will be tough for them losing seven seniors from last years team. Not a top ten team in the region for sure. Should be ranked second or third in their district.
  9. They have one of the regions top player. Cody Miller is very versitale and could play anywhere on the floor for his 6ft4 frame. They are a top five team in this region, and if they supporting cast around Miller develops they could be in Rupp this year.
  10. As far as having talented athletes they are on a talent scale under Corbin. The problem in Middlesboro has been terrible coaching hires. Defensively they will struggle, its obvious their coach is clueless. They have good athletes to press people, but most the time they sit back in a zone and teams kill them from the outside. A team that could win 20 games and compete for the district and region will be a sub .500 team.
  11. I do agree that things may be a little tougher for South losing Jones and Bortnem, but Steve Wright has his program so good now it is like a farm system, you just reload. Even with what he has coming back they should not beat Corbin, but they will. What makes them so tough is their defensive schemes. I know in years past they have had some good offensive players that kind of took the limelight away from the different junk defenses that they can throw at you, but last years group and this years group are defensive stompers, and with the talent Corbin has no way they should be scoring in the 50s against South even with having a good defensive team. I agree HDE I do like Hayes as a person, he is a great guy, but he just cant coach a lick. I think a lot of his problem is he has no respect from the kids and the kids parents.
  12. Yes, this kid's range starts as soon as he steps inside the building it seems. Speaking of Jackson, why do they keep Hayes around? He has had nothing but talent for years?
  13. This is how I see things shaking up this year, just off the limb. 49th- The most weak district in the region. Clay will be the champion, North does not have much besides Seidell, but should be the runner up based on the fact that Jackson, Red Bird, and OBI are just way worse than they are. 50- South Laurel edges Corbin out in what seems to be the first of two classic battles 51st- Knox Central will be the champion, I look for Lynn Camp to be the runner up. A good, young hard working coach the Wildcats have. 52nd- Bell County will be the champion, Harlan County will be the runner up. Jones is a great coach, but I have no idea what kind of talent he will have after taking over the helm. Regional Tournament- Clay draws Corbin and losses to the Hounds in the first round causing a stir up in Manchester. In that side of the bracket Knox Central beats Harlan County setting up a semi final show down with Knox and Corbin. South thumps North, and Bell gets revenge on Lynn Camp from last season, setting up a South/Bell Friday night semi. South and Corbin meet in the final with South winning in a low scoring double overtime thriller. Regions Biggest Sleeper- Bell County, not a lot of people talking about them.
  14. Steve Wright flat OUT COACHED P, there is no way comparing teams and talent that South last year should have been within 15 points of Corbin. And who cares about being runner up it doesnt mean a thing. Look at the All A when he won it, a team like Corbin should breeze through the All A playing schools that are in it especially how weak those schools were that year.
  15. Corbin by far has the most talent in the region and on talent alone should win the region, but we all know sometimes they does not happen. I have to question their x's and o's. I mean last year in the regional tournament South threw a junk defense at them and all they had to do was get it to the middle and dump it down to Crawford, but the coach look like he had never seen a defense before. I am going with South Laurel, I do believe it is a mental thing for Corbin when it comes to playing South when it really counts.
