2011 Enquirer Fall Sports All-Stars ?

Featured Replies

Did I miss this or did they stop doing it? The latest one I could find on-line was this one from the spring:

Last year, the Fall All-Stars came out around mid-December. Another victim of budget cuts? The HS sports coverage just continues to shrink.

Maybe Rich Skinner can reply but I think he told me it's coming out soon. I know there is something coming out for football.

All of the All-Star teams have been done since mid-December, but because of redesign of paper they apparently aren't going to run until Jan. 14 from what I was told. Hope that helps.

It does - glad to see you are still doing them. Thanks for all you do covering HS sports without the resources you once had to do it.

Enquirer All Star teams should be announced tomorrow Jan. 19th. Any guesses on who the volleyball MVP will be? My guess is Emily Schmahls from NDA. First team (my opinion) Abbey Bessler and Rachel Fortner from St Henry, Taylor Snyder of NCC, Heidi Thelan from NDA, Jayden Jillian of Holy Cross and possibly Ellie Ogle-NDA, Maggie O'Day-NCC, or Ashley Bush-Ryle. Hopefully a defensive specialist or libero will sneak in there.

I agree with the above list. MVP has to be someone from NDA, question is who? How many first teamers are picked? 1st team locks have to be Schmahl and Thelen from NDA, Fortner and Bessler from St. Henry, and Snyder from NCC. Jillian, Ogle, O'Day, and Bush will all make 1st or 2nd team. Other possibles for 1st or 2nd teams: Jones, Schellhaas, and Hartman from NDA, Hempel and Nichols from Ryle, Berkley at Campbell Co., Romito at Scott, Rolle at Cooper, and Govan at Silver Grove. Is that everyone? Left off some decent players from Brossart, Beechwood, and a few other schools. Don't know about a DS or Libero - people in the know tell me the best one in NKY will be a Freshman at NDA next year.

Jones from NDA and Froendhoff from NCC were the top defensive players in NKY this season.

It really comes down to who the coach nominates from their team. I think they can send in 4 players for consideration.

Look for the team in Thursday's Enquirer.

Wow, Libby Leedom is the girls soccer Player of the Year? Her sister Jill won the honor last year!!!!! Congratulations Libby and the Leedom family.

If I'm not mistaken, she has verbally committed to continue her soccer career at the University of Dayton after graduating next year!!!!

Is there a 1st and 2nd team listing that I missed or are they just honoring the Player of the Year in each sport? Maybe the printed newspaper has more.

Agree. Thanks for all you do Mr. Skinner. You do a great job and it is much appreciated.
