Agree. Schedule dosn't get any easier as we travel to take on #1 team in the 10th region in Montgomery Co on Friday. Cards being tested early in the season.

GRC gave it a great effort and a great game by Stenzel. Foul trouble kept Fatkin and Rogers on the bench alot but even then had they hit a decent percentage at the foul line it might have been a different story. Congrats to a very good Central team on the win. They will make some noise in the 11th this year.

Congrats to Madison Central on the win. GREAT showing by the Cards tonight. Bopper had a huge game playing almost the entire time. Must work on the Free Throws for success in the long run. Looking forward to the HUGE game on Friday night!

Knew that Charlie had to sit with 3 fouls first half and picked up his 4th early in the 3rd quarter. Taylor Howard did not play tonight. Hope to have him back by Friday.

RICHMOND — George Rogers Clark didn’t go down easy.

Although Madison¿Central scored the first eight points and even led by 14 at one point in the fourth quarter, the Cardinals fought their way back in the final minutes before dropping a 56-49 setback to the Indians Tuesday night.

 

The hosts held on despite making just one fieldgoal — a 3-pointer by Ken-Jah Bosley — after Clark used an 8-2 run that trimmed a double-digit margin to seven at 46-39 with 3:58 remaining. The Indians made nine free throws in the final eight minutes to hold off the Cards.

 

“We couldn’t give up,” said Clark guard Bopper Stenzel, who finished with a game-high 24 points. “They’ve been ready for us, so we just wanted to give it our all and come back. We came back and played good at the end. We played good all game.”

Clark coach Scott Humphrey praised Stenzel’s performance, a career-high outing by the senior leader.

 

“Bopper will compete,” Humphrey said. “He has has toughness that betrays his looks. He looks like a very mild-mannered kid out there, but he will flat go after you. He won’t back down. He leads this team and they will follow him.”
