In the CovCath 42 Conner 14 game thread, I mention how great a game I thought Blake Bir had, after another poster said "Bir and the receivers did well, but nothing exceptional".

 

Well in looking through the history of CovCath records, I found that Blake Bir indeed had an expectational game but it was even better than I thought.

 

What the Junior CovCath QB did was break the record for most "Most Passing Yardage in a Game"!

 

The old record was held by Josh Bleser in a game vs. LexCath in 2006 with 354 yards of passing

 

The new record is now held by Blake Bir in a game vs. Conner in 2011 with 366 yards of passing

Bleser had a monster game against LexCath in a barnburner.

I've got Blake Bir as 2nd-team QB for the All-NKY team.

 

I am extremely intrigued about his college possibilities.

CovCath also set record for points in regular season 438 it was 423 in 1992.

The single-season TD record will belong to Blake after Saturday.

Career TD record is 53. Bir will end up with 25 to 30 this year. How many did he have last year?

BTW if you noticed the lack of yardage in the Pendleton County game, don't think Blake didn't have a good game. The lack of yardage had more to do with CovCath running pretty much at will against PC and the weather, as the rain, wind and cold made it rather tough to throw and honestly there was no reason to even try to throw.

Found the 2010 stats. Combined with 2011:

 

22 games

4391 yards (record: 5,448)

302/517 58% (completions record = 367 attempts record = 673)

48 TDs (record 53)

 

Barring injury Bir will have them all when he completes his senior year.

 

No surprise. Kid can play.
