Courier-Journal’s boys Sweet 16 ratings

Featured Replies

The final edition of The Courier-Journal’s boys’ basketball Litkenhous Ratings are out, and as expected they favor Eastern to win this week’s PNC/KHSAA Boys’ Sweet 16 championship at Rupp Arena.

No. 1 Eastern (31-2) is among seven Top 20 teams to make the field, joining No. 3 Clark County (29-5), No. 5 Lexington Catholic (26-7), No. 9 Christian County (21-9), No. 10 Warren Central (26-7), No. 13 Bullitt East (28-5) and No. 20 Dixie Heights (29-3).

Bullitt East is the only one of those seven not in the loaded top half of the bracket.

Here are the Litratings for the Sweet 16 qualifiers (state rankings in parentheses):

Eastern (1) 106.1

Clark County (3) 97.5

Lexington Catholic (5) 96.2

Christian County (9) 92.2

Warren Central (10) 92.0

Bullitt East (13) 90.1

Dixie Heights (20) 85.0

Wayne County 83.6

Daviess County 81.7

Rowan County 81.5

Marshall County 81.2

Perry County Central 81.1

Bardstown 78.9

Oldham County 77.9

Bell County 76.1

Shelby Valley 59.5

In spite of all the grief Litkenhous gets, I have to admit that looks about right to me.
