Georger Rogers Clark 60 Montgomery County 51

Featured Replies

The George Rogers Clark girls basketball team picked up a big 60-51 win over rival Montgomery County on the road Friday.

The win gives the Lady Cards the number one seed in next month’s 40th District Tournament.

Senior Prisha Rogers scored 19 points to lead Clark, while junior Brittani Gay also had a big game getting a double-double, scoring 17 points and pulling down 13 rebounds.

“Brittni Gay was really good early on the boards tonight and we got a lot of second shots,” True said. “Our defense and our board work was especially good in the second half. We held their top three scorers to just 14 points tonight, which was huge.”

When these 2 teams met in Dec. 2010 Montgomery did not have sophomore Olivia Colliver or junior Destiny Taul due to injuries and they lost by 10. In the 1st game in Dec. freshman Erica Rogers had 17 points and Macie Spence had 10 for the night.

In last night's game the Cards (P. Rogers) held freshman Erica Rogers to 6 points, Olivia Colliver to 6 points and Macie Spence to 2 points. Destiny Taul had 19.

Very impressive defense from GRC.

I think that as a team Montgomery Co did not look like they were in any kinda physical shape in this game. The only player on the floor for them that looked good was Destiney Taul.

I think your right they are out of shape and play with no toughness on the floor! Taul was the one on the floor who gave it her all the rest of them looked like a dear in headlights!!! It was terrible game!!

Taul had a good game but a person has to remember that the other players were guarded heavily by P. Rogers on the outside and Gay on the inside. GRC went out of their way to shut the 3 point shooting out and that is what they did. That leaves other players open to step up and that is what Taul did. Don't down the other players because they were being guarded heavily. In my opinion P. Rogers is probably the best defensive player in the state. And Gay sure worked on the inside.

Montgomery needs to work on getting their shooters open and the inside open. GRC shut both these areas down and if Montgomery doesn't get their players open then GRC will be going to state for the 2nd year in a row.

TD4 I haven't got to come out and watch very many games but have listened by radio! Don't make excuses the game at Clark Co was the same way. So they knew what was going to happen again! Horrible game from start to finish! The lady Indians had better get busy quick!

Not saying the Lady Indians shouldn't have won both games. Not making excuses either.
