Pulaski County 72 Boyle County 54

Good looking Pulaski County team. I never thought we were mentally into this game until we were down by 12 points and against a team as good as Pulaski County that is too big of a hole. Great learning experience for us, I just hope we actually learned something.

How many learning experiences do they need? I have only watched 2 games but seems to me there is a lack of heart on this team. No urgency, no will to win. It just seems like they run through the motions.

What two games have you watched? You are talking about a team that is 7-4 that is playing with 3 guys with varsity experience, lost their starting point guard and just gained a player who became eligible last Wednesday and he has played in as many games as he has had practices. Two games tells you this team has no heart? I guess you should have came to the 7 games that we won or did you see us a win a game with no heart and going through the motions? We are expected to lose most games that we play. We are smaller than most teams we play and we have to play smart basketball and execute almost perfectly as well as rely on the other team to make mistakes in order for us to win. Against teams like Pulaski County, East Jessamine, Danville, South Oldham, Henry County we cannot afford to play careless basketball or we will lose and lose badly. We have yet to put together a complete game for all 4 quarters and once we figure out how to do that I expect great results.

I do think you are mistaken. We may not run around and scream and yell and pound our chests on every play but they play with heart. I do wish they would recognize what is going on more but like I have said, they'll learn and that will come.

I watched the games at the Henry County Tourney... "we have to play smart basketball and execute almost perfectly as well as rely on the other team to make mistakes in order for us to win" this is what most teams have to rely on. I watched a win and a loss. Heart is not "run around and scream and yell and pound our chests on every play" that is poor sportsmanship. Heart is aggressive go get it never die attitude. I didn't see this in those games. I am simply saying the games i watched i saw no urgency, no attacking of the basket, and at times they just ran through the motions. As a graduate of BCHS i want them to do well and hope they do, as a coach I am just telling you what i saw in those games.

Maybe i started the post a little harshly with "How many learning experiences do they need?" This was probably why it came across as an attack.

I think part of our problem is our guys feel they have to be wide open to shoot it and there has to be a clear lane to the basket before they attack the basket instead of recognizing a mismatch and taking advantage of it. We also make silly silly mistakes too many times(like throwing cross court passes, getting trapped amongst the baseline, not catching the ball enabling the defense to trap) and at some point I expect it to stop. They are capable of playing better and quite honestly I think we are seeing "kids" in action most of the time. This group of boys are a bunch of mild mannered and well behaved kids. Aggressiveness is just not in any of their personalities. I think the addition of Will Dunn will add some aggressiveness to the team and it is much needed. I expect a much better team to be playing by the end of the month. I guess we'll see.

Micheal Arnett played a great game tonight and it looks like he is starting to listen to Coach Adams and is playing meaner. We have to have him playing great if we want to play into March this year.

We also have only lost 4 times and I think we only truly learn when we lose. We beat Garrard County twice but I have yet to see that they learned a whole lot from those games. I understand that we expect to win every game and we should expect to win every game but we should never expect to win every game by just showing up and I think we did that tonight for whatever reason. Danville hangover maybe?
