Final in the Republic Bank Holiday Classic

Sheldon Clarks 4th game in as many days, ran out of gas late in the first half. With only 8 varsity players on the team it's hard to play consecutive days. Freshmen Justin Johnson who had a double double including 17 rebounds against Bowling Green was hampered with injury and virtually ineffective today against Scott. All in all I consider this a successful trip for the SC team as they picked up a quality win against Oldham County in the opening round. Going 1-3 in Lexington and facing quality teams/programs goes much further than sticking around the mountains of EKY and playing local teams.

I couldn't agree with you more in terms of playing against quality competition at a quality tournament. I think all teams had to elevate their game or they were in for a long evening no matter who you drew. I also enjoyed watching some very very good teams play and have to think this is easily the best Holiday tournament in Kentucky.

 

Sheldon Clark has a very scrappy team and I enjoyed watching them compete in two games I saw them play. The two little guards on the team, I believe #12 and #3. What grade are they in? They were tenacious and played with a lot of confidence at the end of the game.

Why does SC only have 8 varsity players?

Sheldon Clark just has low numbers throughout the program and then a few players quit. They only traveled with 8 to Lexington but after the first game or two they decided to call a few jv players to come down, in case of serious foul trouble. Bluenation, to answer your question #3 is in 8th grade as is #12. The other kid that saw action is in 6th grade. These 3 players along with the rest of there middle school team plays the high school's jv and freshmen schedule.

Did I read that correctly? Sheldon Clark only has 8 players on their varsity team, and 3 of them are in grade school? And one is in 6th grade?

They have 8 varsity players and then the 3 young kids. 11 total
