Big win by Garrard County in Monticello tonight. Final score not really indicative of how well Garrard played. Wayne's JVs put two scores on Garrard's JVs late in the fourth quarter.

 

Wayne led 3-0 after one quarter and 17-14 with seconds left on the clock before halftime when Billy Abney hit Markell Hayes for a touchdown at the buzzer.

 

Garrard led 21-17 at the break and then absolutely dominated the third quarter. Led by Markell Hayes, who scored four touchdowns, had one called back by a hold, and ran for what had to be close to 300 yards, the Lions flat out blitzed Wayne County in the second half and the Cardinals had no answer.

 

Very nice showing by the Lion offense. A better performance by the defense than the final score shows, although there were still a couple lapses. Garrard will make their first ever trip to Jackson County next weekend for a district game.

Impressive win for Garrard. Really surprised by this one. The Cardinals will get better they are young and have some nice young talent. Coach Thompson will keep working hard!
